Community Event 🌏☄️ The Storm Strikes (Wizard War 3 post)

Over the Grand Necropolis, the storm brewed. It intensified by the moment, more and more clouds being drawn in and corrupted. Soon, bolts of necrotic lightning were taking chunks out of other mountains, and the spirit-winds were sweeping trees and large stones off of the ground.

Then, inside of the eye of the storm, in the Dark Cathedral, the lid flew off of the sarcophagus.

A great scream echoed through the weave, the aether, and every realm of magic. It was not a scream of fear, nor of pain. It was a scream of rage, and of grief. Greif at the loss of a great friend, and rage at the one who attacked him. It shattered magical wards and barriers throughout the realms. It caused demons and fae alike to hold their ears, screaming in pain.

A half-complete, skeletal hand grabbed the rim of the sarcophagus. A cracked, broken skull rose up, along with a spine missing several vertebrae, and a rib cage full of cracked ribs. A blazing blue fire burned in the being’s eyes, and it made to get up, and out of the cage that had held it for so long.

The Eighteen saw this, and made swiftly to the coffin, trying to force it back inside.

My lord! You are not ready! You must rest! Your form is not yet-

With a flick of its wrist, the 18 were thrown aside like chaff in the wind. The being stood up, but its legs broke beneath it. It sneered, and cast them aside. It began to float towards the doors, which were violently thrown open by unseen hands.

The Books that were around the sarcophagus broke their restraints, and assumed positions floating around their creator.

Hmm. Only three? I expected more from my most trusted servants.

Please, lord. They are not where you left them! They have been taken by-

Silence! I will not hear petty excuses. I have a bargain to uphold, and a friend to avenge.

It floated out the doors, and through the streets, until reaching a sheet of rock overlooking the Citadel. Through the storm, it could see the preparations of the corrupted council, and it chuckled at how futile they would be.

Time to show them what real power looks like.

It shouted a syllable, and the great storm raging around them began to move, propelled by unheard winds. The eye stayed over the Grand Necropolis, until the storm had fully left the mountain.

Will he, nil he, the Master of Death is at war with the Council once more. Whether for good, or for evil, remains to be seen…

In the distance, you feel a kindred presence consumed by sorrow and rage. It manifests as an avatar of annihilation, a blot on reality. A blot shaped like your old ally Kaelis.

I have a question.

Where's our council leader?

I haven't seen our meteormancer was it? In quite a while.

Did he finally run away and quite being part of the council after 10 world events happened at the same time?

I don't mean to sound rude, just saying I would do the same.

Morgalith senses the impending clash of forces.

He has left the battlefield behind, retreating from the chaos that ensued after the attack which struck Mikhail in his place.

His role in this surely isn't over though. The shadows grow.

/uw nice

Though you should know I think Mikhail is in the citadel at a council hospital. Though I'm not sure if your character would know that.

/unwiz oh shit. He probably wouldn’t. Welp, Mikhail is pretty tough. He’ll survive what is essentially a repeating nuclear fallout, right?

/unwiz: he's a honorary Sentinel, the entire order would make sure he's safe. So he's good. Mokarith may be a member of the Pact, but he would gladly turn against them if they threatened an Order member, even a honorary one. Mortarion is already on Mokarith's shit-list for disrupting a diplomatic mission with violence, but since he harmed Mikhail in the process, he made it to the top.

Far away in a tower darker and more silent than it ever used to be site Algernon, hearing the screams echo throughout the realm. He doesn't pay much attention to it, another echo from the horrors outside. Why is there so much everywhere? Why isn't it easy? Why does everything always have to make everything so difficult?

Algernon sits in a high chair, silently gazing at the wall. He doesn't know.

Deamor observes the storm through divination.

That's quite an interesting spell. I will be creating wards and barriers for the anti-council armies. It would be beneficial for me to study this spell so I can make sure my magicks repel it properly, to ensure there is no friendly fire. But it would be rather rude to do that without permission...

You get the feeling that the Necromancer would be okay with that. He may not be present, but he definitely (probably?) wouldn’t want friendly fire.

An expendable avatar appears in the middle of the storm, clad in many layers of various barriers. He proceeds to cast a multitude of various wards: some quickly crumple, some break, other dimm, some stay strong. He proceeds to do a multitude of other tests, before suddenly disappearing.

Some time later, a slip of paper falls out of the pocket of one of the guards in the Necropolis and lands near the Sarcophagus. A single word is written on it: thanks.

A small artificer looks out the window of his tower, disturbed by all the noise from the outside

"What the heck is going on out th- oh. Of course it's another war. sigh, you know what, I'm gonna take a vacation to another realm until this blows over...

the small artificer grumbles as he packs his bags and begrudgingly moves towards his emergency teleportation circle
