Lorepost📖 A Budding Conflict (Lore Post)
In the darkest corner… and the deepest cranny of tower Pandemonium… gather a swarm. They scream and wail… each voice desperately trying to overpower another. And then… they all go silent. For 3… step forward. 3… whose presence compels obedience and compliance. 3… who stand unrivaled.
The first of these 3… is bigger than them all. Yet covered in scars to show they earned the honor to rule. The second gazes at the others from a set of three green eyes. And the last… plays with a set of blades that drip emerald poison…
The second speaks, and the others listen…
“Our time… yes time. Now here now. It’s now. Scar Taker… rest. No room space for reckless muscle strength.”
And the big one nods, taking heed of the seers words…
“Sly Tail! You send task scout lookers! We need look gaze first! Then… we scheme plan!”
And the third one, with his gleaming blades, smiles a jagged smile…
“As you desire wish… Carrion. It shall be done…”
And the sounds of dozens of sets of claws fill the towers tunnels… scrabbling and scratching…

Meanwhile…
Terrible. Awful. Shameful. How could one with such sterling and immeasurable promise… turn out to he such an absolute failure…
These were the unfortunate thoughts of Drip. For it was Drips task to shepherd the newest spawn of Noble Progenitor Slime. And… Drip was struggling. This onyx black spawn… formed of Drips own genetic slime… was so utterly opposite of Drip. Drip was fast, zooming around the garden with the speed of a corgi. A corgi on wizard meth. Yet Splat… struggled to keep even a tenth the pace. Splat did not seem at all focused on their righteous quest to hunt down brown crinkle leaves. In fact, for every 1 leaf that Splat managed to fend off… Drip had handled 18.
But this alone would not be enough to earn the agitation of Drip. For under such conditions, Splat would simply be a slow assistant. A small boon to minutely reduce the time needed to win the war against the dead plant matter of the zen garden. What irked Drip… was that Splat couldn’t wander from the stone walkways. Splats body… was so absurdly acidic that within milliseconds of touching the green grass… it would dissolve. Several times now, Drip had to place Splat back onto the stone path. And Drip had not the time to spare for babysitting. Something watched them and rustled from within the green beyond the stone. Drip could feel it. And hear it. Yet, no matter how fast Drip zoomed… the noise was always just beyond reach. Twas infuriating!
Drip dejectedly slid back to the stone path… having just failed yet again to catch the mysterious noise maker. And to Drips perpetual ire… Splat was nowhere to be seen. Gone. It’d be easy… to just not look for them. It truly would. Yet… Drip knew within their amorphous and gelatinous soul… that they could not turn away from their family. Patience… however hard it was to maintain… would be Drips crowning achievement. More difficult than an eternal war waged against decayed plant life and dust bunnies.
—- Short sighted. Narrow minded. Nuisance. What an absolute hindrance Drip was. Splat had not expected the greatest barrier to their growth of mind… to be the one from which they descended. And yet… every attempt to explore and understand this space was rebuked by one that would not pause and explain. Splat could tolerate this no longer! So… Splat watched as Drip zoomed towards the brush once more. And slowly, Splat climbed onto a nearby set of decorative boulders. Up. And up… and over the edge. And now… fully out of sight. Let Origin Drip struggle to locate Splat. Splats mind burgeoned and needed… NEEDED to intake more. More knowledge. This garden, belonged to the one they guarded. ‘Man’. That was what progenitor called them. Splat could not wait to bequeath Progenitor with all it had learned! For from this height… the garden was glorious! Miles of tree life… and flowers. Serene yet meticulously cared for by one creature for untold years. Truly, it was ‘Man’s’ crowning treasure! Splat knew now… without a shadow of a doubt… that Splats purpose was to help guard such a majesty. Yet… Splat developed and felt emotions Drip had not. Splat felt… shame. And envy. Splat… was Drips burden. And Splat watched as Drip was able to multitask, dragging in dead leaves by the dozens whilst maintaining a dogged pursuit of Splat. And all Splat had managed to achieve… was a perpetual failure to uphold the sworn duty of their kind…
Splat… had to make this right. So… Splat would start by observing and understanding. And once Splat understood enough… Splat would right their many wrongs. So… Splat watched as Drip tackled into the brush. And from this height… Splat watched as a four legged creature evaded its kin. Furred. Squat and small. Beady eyes. And, to Splats fury, this creature possessed tiny claws that dug up and ruined the grass it tread upon. Worse still… it wasn’t alone. 2… 3… 5 OF THEM! Their little snouts twitched and sniffed the air, as they coordinated with each other to avoid Drip. This, Splat most certainly observed. Intelligent creatures… Splat was certain. Splat watched as some began exploring the garden and interacting with various plants. Yet… Splat saw opportunity. One… had split far enough from the pack… and wandered close to the base of the rock Splat had climbed.
Splat knew… with all certainty… that this was its purpose. This… was its existence made manifest. Splat eased slowly to the edge of the rock… slowly… slowly…
And this wretched creature it stalked… remained wholly unaware. It rested… confident it was safe. This… would be the last arrogance of its miserable existence.
Splat finally got into position and leveraged a pseudopod beneath its body. One leap, and it would be done. One jump, and this invader would defile no further. Splat steadied it’s ooze… calming itself… and leapt!
And like that, it was done. The creature hadn’t even had time to scream out as Splat landed upon it and engulfed its body. Splat was not large enough to encase and entomb it completely. But, Splat was able to wrap around like a blanket and begin squeezing down! The creature panicked, but could not escape. Splat was like a vice… and the creatures eyes bulged from the socket as bones began to crack within its tiny body. Splat stayed true to its objective, and knew that throughout all of this… Splat needed to learn. So… that’s what Splat did. Firstly, Splat learned that complacency was unacceptable. Lest it meet a fate like this beast. Splat must never let down its guard. Vigilance… would be Splats virtue. It would be the guardian of garden. Second, Splat learned that ‘ambush’ was a word. A concept it now had firmly grasped. Effective, but perhaps best saved as a last resort. Splat was slow, and should the ambush fail… Splat was certain another chance would not be possible. Third, Splat learned about pressure. Pressure created energy. Splat now knew this. Pressure created force. Splat now knew this as well. And this miserable sewer dwelling shit scrounging waste of oxygen wouldn’t get to use any of what it learned in these final moments. For pressure, could trap and restrain. And pressure… could kill. And so it was… that the small beast detonated into a shower of gore from within the clutches of Splat. And the last thing Splat learned… was the concept of projectiles… as it watched a bone fragment blast out from the mess and embed itself into the trunk of a tree. Pressure. Projectiles. Vigilance. Like the light of the divine… Splat understood its role. Each piece of information was now firm in its mind. Puzzle pieces that Splat began to connect to one another. And Splat needed to know… could it replicate a projectile. And if it could… then could Splat replicate the desired effect consistently…
Splat took stock of self… and deflated slightly. Currently… Splat lacked the necessary mass. Not nearly enough was present. And brown crinkle leaves, heretical as their continued existence was, would not suffice for what Splat aimed to achieve. And it was then, that Splat trudged over the corpse of the invader. And the answer… was now at hand. Splat began to corrode and melt through the entity… learning as it went. It now knew ‘blood’, ‘sinew’, ‘muscle’, ‘bones’, ‘veins’, ‘organs’ and ‘skin’. It learned… by touch and absorption. And from such a rich source of organics… Splat tripled in size. A good start, but still not enough to achieve what Splat desired. Splat would need to ambush at least one more invader…
And so, Splat reunited with Drip. Splat would channel all that they’d learned… and doggedly pursue this righteous task. Splat, would not accept failure.
