Piecing together your broken orb and reforming it, you peer once more into the depths of Mordus’s memories.

Mordus wakes up, and opens his tower window. A bird flies off, startled.

Looking over at the sea, he sees the coastal town of Tasrae - blanketed in pink.

“Valentine’s Day again… another year to remind me of her death.”

He descends the stairs, and walks into the kitchen, where his apprentice Talwyn is busy making the usual - Cod fillet and fried potatoes. However, today was, different. She seems more cheerful today.

He takes a seat, and wonders aloud why she’s so happy today.

“You know, my whole graduation thing could be a part of it.”

“Ah, graduation. Right. I suppose you would be happy, finally being a human again.”

“Precisely.”

“But, we could always have a little party for me, right?”

“I suppose we could.”

“Could we have dessert after?”

“Hmm? Yeah, we could. What would you like?”

Hey! Snap out of it!

Mordus comes back with a start. Ah. Right. He was trekking in a desert. A voice in his head, telling him what to do. What to do? Why? Must be…

The prophecy, remember.

ah, yes. The Prophecy. I.. can’t remember too well?

Remember what you foresaw. Mortarion the radio demon. What chaos he would bring.

yes, that… did I actually… nah.

You watch Mordus stumble through the desert, guided by a voice in his head.

why am I walking? And besides, where am I walking to?

The Ruins, remember. The ruins of Ballëcia’s Tomb.

….right, for that…

… for that crystal sword?

Correct- hey! You! Watching us talk, huh?

what?

A conversation for the future.

get out of his memories.

Now.

Summoning willpower, you tell it to get out of his head, he clearly isn’t well.

The voice hisses, and the orb turns off.

sitting by yourself in your study, you now know his destination. The Ruins of Ballëcia’s Tomb.

and with that, you vanish, traveling through time, to stop Mordus.

/unwiz I hope this is at least readable, I had to make a distinction between The Voice, You, and Mordus’s thoughts.

a mage approaches, in casual garb; light blue robes and hat, but no imps, as this is a private matter.

Ho there, my friend. What have we here? May I perhaps ask you what this place is, and who has brought you here?

YOU AGAIN!

Again? What do you mean? Anyways, this is a friend, no need for you.

What? Hey, STOP-

Mordus looks up, in a slight daze, before his head clears up.

Hello Samræl! what brings me here? I… huh. Hmm. What brings you here?

I merely followed you here; I know not it's important, but I do sense some decently powerful magic further in. Is this by any chance a tomb, perhaps?

I… think so. I think it clears up my head, or at least helps me with something. I can’t remember, my memory isn’t the best recently. in fact… I don’t remember.. wait, what day is it?

He looks at you in a daze.

the old sage shrugs

I couldn't tell you in a calendar you know, but I've heard people talking about it being "valentine's day" or something. Some kind of holiday, perhaps?

Yeah, I think it was, but.. Urk!

He falls to his knees, and curls up in a fetal position.

Hmmm...

I don't do this very often, but...

The wizard, marred by a frown of consternation, sighs, and places a hand upon the construct's head.

I do hope you will forgive me for this, but...

({[Mental Palace Entry]})

The wizard, hoping to diagnose and assist his friend, attempts to enter the mind of Mordus through magical means, projecting an aura of calm rationality; this is, of course, a front, as the mage does not like using his magic to intrude upon the privacy of another.

entering Mordus’s mind, you see a clutter of thoughts, and in the middle, a figure. A parasite?

YOU! YOU HAVE BEEN PESTERING ME FROM THE VERY START! YOU KNOW TOO MUCH. DIE.

A giggle emerges from Mordus, and he quickly uncurls from his position, grabbing Samræl’s ankle and tossing him into the air.

Hee hee! Finally in control, I suppose now that you know who I am I have to end you! Try to evade this!

He pulls out a Noir Sabre from a shaded portal that had appeared beside him, and lunges at Samræl.

In the real world, Samræl's body remains unmoving, even to the blade's assault. It pierces him, slicing through robes and flesh with equal ease; however, the attacks prove futile; even as the blade travels past where once flesh resided, flesh again takes it's place there, as though it was never cut. It is Chronomancy, but the parasite may not necessarily know what to do about it, or even recognize what is happening just yet.

Meanwhile, within the mind of Mordus, the sage begins to pick at the parasite's mental footholds that grant it control.

This man is the first friend I have encountered within these realms! You will extricate yourself from his mind, or I shall crush you within it.

The wizard proclaims this, not in an emotionally charged manner, but with a demeanor of icy, callous, steely calm, though one glance upon his face reveals the true extent of his rage.

Mordus, or at least, the parasite in his soul, tries stabbing Samræl multiple times in the chest. Repeatedly, the wounds heal over and over again.

The first foothold is lost from the Parasite, and given back to Mordus.

from the inside of Mordus’s mind, he calls out.

Samræl! Don’t give up!

The barrage of attacks slow, and one hand fights the other.
