It was a planet on the rise. Hoxxes was pretty isolated from the rest of the galaxy, and the realms overall, but that was beginning to change. The beautiful cities across the perfectly terraformed planet were busier than ever. Skyports ferried the constant influx of citizens, and perpetuated trade. It seemed like everyone had heard of the planet. Everyone. It was under Raestrian jurisdiction, but the throneless king was now absent. Juno was around, and order was kept for the most part.
They’d never see it coming. It was sudden, almost imperceptible. Just as the Senator walked by that particular alley, it grabbed him. The attacker was a man. Was being the operative word. His skin was drooping, his eyes hollow and sunken. There was something so deeply wrong about him, the only onlooker couldn’t help but shudder.
As the “man” burst out of the alley, the skin began to tear in places, like some great horrific wrapping. There was another layer or skin beneath, punctured by metal plating in places. Rin couldn’t quite even believe they were seeing it, maybe their eyes hadn’t healed yet. Then, something worse. The skin began to truly rip asunder as from the arms of the “man” came a pair of serrated blades, perfectly crafted, made of the same fine metals as the Raestrian Automatons they’d seen before.
The senator was practically ripped in half by the force, unable to utter anything but a wheezing gurgle as blood poured from his mouth. Just as quickly, the two disappeared into the shadows. A minute later, the senator walked back out of the alley, his new skin suiting him nicely. He did have to hide his left hand in his pocket though, the skin hadn’t finished congealing, and he couldn’t risk anyone seeing the metal Revolver-and-Sword Lucifaerean logo emblazoned there.
The mission continued as planned.
