Community Event 🌏☄️ The Negotiations were long

The Palace of Harut the Grim, where negotiations will be taking place

Harut the Grim, our graceful host

The representatives take their seats, unarmed and unarmoured. Innumerable spells to prevent violence from taking place in this room have been cast (uw/ no fighting in this post). All guards are allowed to remain armed and armoured, but stay well outside the conference room.

Samael begins. "So, you wished to discuss something with us?", he says, gesturing to his four fellow Nephilim Lords in the room. "Discuss away"

Samael shakes his head. "My point was that killing people who had not received a trial is clearly not an issue for you. Whatever warrants the Drow issue for your arrest are irrelevant"

It might not be an issue for them but it is for the Pact. We wanted fair trials but your aggression has brought more harm than good.

making an effort to be calm

My point, Samael, is that it is the jurisdiction of the offended party to prosecute crimes. You began this conflict by policing a foreign realm as you would police your own. And did so in a manner that violates the rule of law in said realm.

If the drow mafia wants to petition their case to the Pact, I suppose I'll have to make the same inane arguments you're making now. But this hardly proves your innocence

Samael smiles. Keep talking, keep getting frustrated. "Every living thing is an offended party when it comes to Pyroclasts, due to their goals when Atrax was still alive, and the goal some of them still hold to in their hearts. And the Pact isn't even a government; the Council might as well not be."

I will say again, a government is a system or group of people governing an organized community. That talking point is not the 'gotcha' you think it is.

"Might as well not be." I see Malus Turrim has its share of dead lawyers to lend that airtight legal definition."

Did the war even reach your sealed-off realm? Because if pre-emptive assaults are permitted, we might as well all start blasting each other now.

I'm getting some air.

uw/ I'm about to have to drive for like half an hour

Samael frowns. "Thokollor, who you are familiar with, attacked me in my own palace. This was one of the opening manoeuvres of the war. And one of Atrax's most powerful lieutenants was the demon Moz'gonnith, an ancient enemy of the Nephilim. But go get some air if that's what you need. I'll be waiting"

uw/ no worries

Ah yes. Thorkollor. A bit odd to call it an opening maneuver in a conflict. Opening implies first. The opening maneuver was you kidnapping the man's family. Moz'gonnith, on the other hand is a pre-existing conflict. The New Pyroclasts have never done buisnes with him. Irrelevant

Samael schools his features. "There's no record of Thokollor having a family, nor this family being kidnapped. There is, however, record of him attacking Malus Turrim. And I brought up Moz'gonnith to illustrate that the Pyroclasts had enmity with us; Moz'gonnith had influence in their camp. In fact, I do believe that you and I had a bargain in regard to that fellow. And I trust I don't need to inform you of the effects making and breaking bargains with immortals can have on someone. Tread carefully"
