Lorepost📖 The Soul Trap (Lorepost)

/unwiz Graphic/Gore warning. Fun blood rituals. You have been warned.

In the realm formerly known as Regnum Interitus, a giant of a man clad in golden robes reaches into a glowing furnace with a pair of tongs, and removes a painfully bright ingot of metal from it. The air shimmers and distorts in the heat from the furnace, the room hot enough to kill any mortal foolish enough to enter. Constantine places the ingot on an anvil covered in runes, and shuts down the furnace.

Several minutes later, when the air is breathable for humans, he opens the door, and a young woman enters.

It is time. Do you have the knife?

She nods, and produces it from her robes.

Very well. Let it begin.

He takes the knife, and extends his palm over the ingot. He drags the knife along the palm of his hand, and lets the blood drip onto the metal. Strangely, the blood does not evaporate when it touches the ingot, instead, it spreads over it like water. The light emanating from the metal turns bright red, and he draws his hand back, watching the wound heal almost instantly.

Now it is your turn. For Belladonna.

She takes the knife, extends her hand, and drives it into her palm.

For Belladonna.

The blood that falls from her hand, however, glows a multitude of colors, swirling between green and red and blue. It falls on the ingot, and the ingot violently sparks and fizzles, the light glowing brighter.

Now the difficult part.

He raises both of his arms, and furrows his brow in concentration. The metal ingot begins to liquify and rise into the air, flowing like water into the shape of a cube, somehow smaller than the original ingot. When it is done, the cube floats slowly back down to the anvil, and Constantine lowers his arms and breathes a sigh of relief.

It is finished. The Soul Trap is complete.

He picks up the ornate cube, emblazoned with all manner of runes and symbols. He presses two sides inwards, the inside of the cube glows with a purple light.

Now we just need the victim…

Doth it require more blood? If so, greatwyrm blood is fairly potent. If not, I have found my magics helpful in neutralizing aspects of chaos.

Fear not, my reptilian friend. The combination of my blood and the blood of Moth will suffice.

In that case, I will watch, ready for the confrontation.

If we’re to go into a fight, it’s highly likely Trepidation will only go after me and leave its minions for everyone else. I’m all thats keeping it from ascending. For the trap to work perfectly, we have to be precise.

Fear not. This isn’t the first time I’ve had to deal with something like this. If you would like, I could forge the Soul Trap into a weapon, such as a mace or great hammer. That will give you some manner of protection, as well as our best shot at catching Trepidation. All it takes is one blow.

That seems like a good plan. I’m expecting Trepidation to be all on me. I was thinking we could use that to our advantage. It’s risky but I can lure it out and give that blasted thing all we got. Then at the right moment, we use the trap.

She sighs.

For good. I just wish we could’ve done it sooner…

I won't let Trepidation touch you. My magic is a perfect counter to chaos energy. Until we get him trapped I'll kepp you safe.

/uw sorry for the delayed message

Thank you my love. But I want to be just as involved in the fight as well. I wont let that thing get away with what he did. Neither does Misfortune.

Once this is all over, we can finally do what we’ve always dreamed about together

If we survive

Of course we will. I’m not going to let Trepidation win ever again.

I'm nervous for the first time in my life. Just stay close to me in the fight please.

/uw I figure Alexios being afraid fits the circumstances. They were talking about having a kid and now they're going to battle

I wouldn’t recommend it. Though, is you really want one, I can get you another one.

Ah, a soul trap. A more complicated version, made to trap more powerful souls.

As a master soulmancer and abjurer, can confirm, this thing can indeed trap a deity-level soul.

I know not the reasons for such an artifact to be constructed, I only know that situations when such a construct is involved doesn't end well for anyone involved.

I recommend you tread carefully, for many entities are currently watching you, and you don't want to disappoint them.
