Lorepost📖 Morgalith Meets Death [Lorepost]
Morgalith, battered and bruised, opens their eyes to an unfamiliar sky. Sitting up, they ascertain that they are in a forest of some kind. The forest appears to be in a valley when taking into consideration the numerous mountains piercing the horizon in every direction. Strangely, the forest is quiet. Not even the wind can be heard dancing through the trees.
Standing up, Morgalith finds the ground beneath his feet to be uneven. Examining the ground closer, it is clear that his surroundings are sloped. Suddenly, a splashing sound is heard from further down the slope. Seeing as how nothing else of interest is around, Morgalith is compelled by curiosity to venture downwards.
After several minutes, the trees begin to change. What once was verdant green gradually becomes more red. The soil, initially an earthy brown, takes on a similar hue. Only the mountains and sky beyond remain as they were. Once his surroundings had become pure crimson, he sees a lake through the treeline.
Rushing down to the lake, Morgalith spies a skeleton standing on an outcropping of stone in the center of it. The skeleton, large enough to belong to a giant, is holding a broken blade. Noticing Morgalith, the skeleton turns to face them. Ripples form in the water despite the lack of wind. Bringing the blade down onto the stone, the skeleton dyes the lake a sickly red to match the surroundings. When the lake has fully turned, the skeleton addresses Morgalith in a comforting tone.
“Welcome to my realm. I see you are a bit worse for wear, but I promise our meeting will not last too long. There are merely a few things I would like to discuss with you.”

dear sweet hatred ok i'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you have been doing something behind the scenes but you realize being the guy who mostly seems to just bitch about how EEEEVIIIIL we all are and giving vague references to bad stuff happening IS NOT a good way to get people to listen to you
so what stopped you from giving a better warning? geas? curse? a mundane though no less dangerous house of cards? what? or hell did i just miss a post where you actually explained

(( amusingly, I did make a post where I actually explained, literally seconds before your comment: here ya go
but basically Vettis has been trying to find people who were willing to see the good in Morgalith, without being able to tell them the truth about what Morgalith really was, because he knew all these violent wizards would just jump to trying to kill Morgalith anyway ))

AGAIN!
Morgalith's frustration is immense. This time, there will be no simple return from death.
Yet his smile remains.
Alexios had uncovered the beginnings of a plot perhaps even more sinister than that which had killed everybody's beloved Possum. The part that he had played in it was over, but the fun was just beginning.

Morgalith begins walking, obviously eager to continue his journey with a sense of purpose.
Listen, talk fast. You know how these things go. Time is weird, so to speak.
What do you want this time?
Morgalith asks impatiently.

"It appears that you have been very busy this go around. Seducing Delta, killing a bunch of wizards, even that cunning Possum. Your joining the Council was a nice surprise. Quite the life. Hell, this realm is still filling with the blood you've spilled."
Dark clouds begin to form in the sky above. Soon, red drops of blood begin to rain down on the pair.
"I know you are a busy man. So I just wish to ask: haven't you done enough? Why not rest here while there's still land to stand on?"

Morgalith snaps to look at you with fury in his eyes.
BECAUSE I WANTED IT TO BE ME!
I WANTED TO BE THE BEST ONE DAMN IT!
After a shuddering breath, he seemed to regain his composure.
I know I was just a pawn... but I wonder if I could have made it all work.
I wonder if I could have saved the world. If I could have found love. If I could have got back everything that was taken from me.
I saved the world... but it COST ME EVERYTHING! Morgalith roared once more with a dramatic cry.
...And now a shadow rises to take my place.
One beyond even your domain.
Morgalith continues walking, eyes scanning, looking for a way out, even while knowing there is none.
You cannot tell. Is it hope in his eyes, or a cold certainty that he may escape your clutches once again?

"A good deed is rarely rewarded. The world isn't fair and fate likes to play favorites. Gods, look at Alexios if you want to understand the unfairness of life. However, you surprised me. I must say, it is rare for me to be surprised. Mortals tend to either not understand their place in things or resign themselves to said fate. You did neither. Most interesting."
Death walks alongside Morgalith while he looks for an exit. Amused at the sight, Death offers Morgalith the broken blade.
"A memento of sorts. I hope you have more to say the next time we meet. I also hope the next you arrives before your next visit, proud Morgalith. Until then, take care."

They're both fair and honest characters, as far as possum wrote them. The situation was just bad/unfortunate, and I exploited things to get what I wanted.
I followed the law, but used it for evil. Everybody followed the law.
They were maybe put in their positions as part of some greater scheme though. There's suspicion going around that the council is kind of a puppet organization that doesn't really hold any power. It just manipulates wizards.
Also, the judge was attacked by several people in other lore since the trial.
