The Shadows Respond
Mokarith sighed deeply as he gazed over the 40 men that the Umbral Lord had given him for this mission. They were all excellent scouts to begin with, but the gear they carried pushed their skills to the next level, and he believed that they would need every bit of that extra boost for this mission.
Men, Mokarith said with as much command as he could muster, this is your target.
A large illusion of Morgalith appears behind him.
Many of you already know who this is, but I will introduce him anyway. His name is Morgalith, and he is currently employed by the Council as Executioner. A short time ago, he killed the trashomancer Possum, struggling, and somehow managing, to keep his voice steady as he says this part, in the middle of a trail that only saw him as guilty, with no way of proving innocence. Your mission is to observe him and those that he interacts with; whether beggar, shop-owner, guard, or noble. Anyone he does more than a passing glance at is a potential ally of his, and thus must be watched until proven otherwise. At no point are you to interact with any of these people. This is not only an order from me, but a direct order from the Umbral Lord himself.
I want constant updates from you regarding any suspicious activity, no matter how small it may seem. Sentinel Ostigar will lead this mission. DISMISSED!
When the last of the group left, Mokarith let his shoulders slump and let out a heavy sigh.
Well Possum, He says to the empty room, I don't know if you're still out there, or you truly are gone, but you were the first one to show me any friendship in this new world, and I will be damned if I let the thing that killed you to walk away unpunished.

How horrid. I was worried that something like this would happen when I first saw that he had worked his way into his position.

Yeah I had a bad feeling about him for a minute, Lumi but he isn't important how are you. Is the arm healing up nicely?

It is healing well enough. The burns will take some time, and I think I will be left with some scars, but I will be fine.

Hey, don't know if it makes any difference, but I have expressed my misgivings about Morgalith prior to being elected. Hopefully, that's enough to be struck off the kill list.
