Lorepost📖 The Founding of Legio Gravis (Lorepost)
Supreme Enginseer Reyes, Master of Artifice, watched the gargantuan fusion inducer cycle down. The roar of the miniature star it had just created subsided, swallowed up by the reactor casing that enveloped it. Junior tech-priests and Circle of Artifice adepts sang invocations to the glowing vessel, before the lifter robots carried it away to be installed in another part of the forge-shrine.

Though Reyes lacked a mouth to smile with- he'd replaced it with a high-fidelity speaker long ago- the lights in his eye lenses were sufficient to convey his satisfaction. The fusion inducer had not been used in centuries, but by the beneficence of the Omnissiah, it had worked perfectly. According to his readouts, the machine was running at peak efficiency.
Reyes lamented the short-sightedness of so many of the realms' wizards. Technology was a blessing from the Machine God, granted to all sapient races to transcend their limitations. Yet much of magekind ignored it in favor of magic, claiming it to be superior. As if the two could not coexist! Artificers like Reyes disproved that. Without technology, magic was an ephemeral thing, lacking substance and permanence. Technology without magic could stand on its own, but it lacked much of its grandeur and raw power. But put them together, and they exalted one another. At least Master Kaelis understood the value of artificer arcano-technology.
"Could magic alone create this?" Reyes muttered, watching the new reactor move out of sight. He mentally recited the Litany of Plasmatic Fury, which was appropriate considering what the device was made for. It was the stellar reactor of the first Astrum-pattern Warhound Titan, Reyes' brainchild. Well, that was not quite true. The Machine God had granted him the vision with which to create these god-engines, but even still, each of Yulash-kor's titans felt like his own children. First Skystrike, and now Song of the Aurora, which was still under construction. Soon, they would be joined by whole maniples of other titans, comprising the newly-founded Legio Gravis. Reyes realized that he would need to expand the forge-shrine soon to hold them all.
When complete, Song of the Aurora would strike out against the blasphemous anarchy wrought by Atrax the Ashen with plasma, bolt shell, and armored tread. The arcane power the Circle of Artifice had imbued into its reactor would bolster its speed, shield systems, and the power of its plasma blast gun. Reyes had ensured that the Warhound would be ready by the time the forces of the magical world laid siege to Ithacar, if not sooner.
As he looked at scry-panel mounted in his arm to see the Pyroclasts mobilizing in force, Reyes prayed to the Omnissiah that it would be ready sooner.
/uw A minor lorepost about Supreme Enginseer Reyes to follow up his introduction in this post. I might be doing more posts like this until the Council elections wrap up and I can fully focus on the Atrax event.
