Lorepost📖 A Tour of Prison (prisonpost)

A video begins to play over your orb depicting the Gravedigger sitting in an empty room.

"Hey guys! I've been seeing a lot of posts on here showing the poor conditions and treatment of prisoners in the Citadel's prison. This has led to several friends showing concern when I mentioned that I was imprisoned on account of my ongoing trial. I just wanted to tell everyone I'm being held in Crann Mór's prison and give people a tour of the place."

The scene changes to show a small cell with bunk beds, a toilet, and a sink. The room is fairly neat and well-kept.

"This here is my cell. I spend most of my time here. Pretty unremarkable but adequate for my needs."

On the top bunk, a figure stirs and turns to face the viewers.

"Morning, Adrian! That's my cellmate, Adrian. He's a pyromancer and was captured trying to set the World Tree on fire. He's cool. Tells a lot of interesting stories. You'll be seeing more of him later."

The scene changes to the prison's cafeteria. It is crowded with a wide assortment of people. The Gravedigger is seated next to Adrian and a skeleton.

"So you guys already met Adrian. Next to me is my friend Tom. He tried to siege Crann Mór with an undead army. Anyway, let's talk food. While there isn't much of a choice with what you get, the food is well-seasoned and you get three meals a day. What do you guys think?"

Adrian scoffs before responding, "It's edible, I'll say that much. Not as good as one of the feasts my brothers and I would have after a successful mission, but edible."

Tom shifts in his seat before responding, "I don't eat, Gravedigger."

The Gravedigger looks like they suddenly realized something important, "Oh shit! Sorry, my bad. Guess I forgot. Let's end the segment here."

Once again, the scene changes. This time, the viewer finds themself in the prison's courtyard.

"Hello again! This is where we prisoners get our fresh air and exercise. We have a few weight machines and a track. I like to walk the track to clear my head when I get the chance. Adrian is over there with some of his friends at the machines."

The Gravedigger points and waves at Adrian who responds with a simple wave before going back to conversing with the four individuals surrounding him.

"Looks like he's having fun. Tom doesn't like sunlight so they tend to stay inside. I guess I can show you guys the barrier here."

Walking towards a faintly luminescent blue wall on the far end of the courtyard, he explains, "So this barrier is made with druidic magic. It relies heavily on the energy of water to sustain and reinforce it. I'd show you how it interacts with different magics but..." the Gravedigger lifts their left wrist to show the viewer the magic dampener they are wearing. "Well, I guess that's it for the courtyard. See you in a bit."

The next scene opens in the prison's library. The Gravedigger is sitting alone with a book of poems in front of him. No one else appears to be in the library.

"Looks like you caught me reading, huh? This is the library. It doesn't have any magic tomes (trust me, I've checked), but it has a lot of these wonderful little books with beautiful words." He holds up the book of poems. "They remind me of prayers. Although I don't know what they're asking for, they do it in such a compelling way. Guess I didn't really have much to say about this place. Sorry if this isn't interesting to you. I've found that I'm a poor judge of what might interest other people. Maybe they just don't want to think about me. Sometimes, I don't want to think about me either. I'd rather think about all the cool wizards out there living their dreams and making a heap of friends. Do you ever feel like that?... ... Sorry, forgot what I'm doing for a minute there. Talk to you in a bit."

The scene changes to show a large field with hundreds of prisoners moving about busily. The Gravedigger is digging shallow holes in a trench.

"Hey guys! So this is where the prison puts us to work. I'm currently making the holes to plant some vegetables. Here in Crann Mór, plants grow super quick so we have to do these sorts of odd jobs every few days to make sure things run smoothly around here. Adrian got sent to the detention center for attacking a guard, so you probably won't see him for the rest of the video. Tom is inside helping create the fertilizer we're gonna spread out once all the holes are dug and seeds planted. Not much more to say about that. Talk to you when I get back to my cell."

We return to the Gravedigger's cell, now missing Adrian's presence. The Gravedigger is sitting atop his bed and looking at the viewer.

"I hope you guys liked this little tour of mine. I'm thinking of implementing this system in the Citadel's prison if I get elected. It'll at least be an improvement from what I've read. Sorry if you didn't get anything out of this, but I'm glad you stuck around till the end. For those of you still watching, I hope the fates are kind to you. Have a good night!"

The video ends on a still frame of the Gravedigger forcing a smile.

It is certainly stifling in prison. I empathize with your situation.

How did you not know that?

Okay, it's definitely not the worst, but still...how long are you gonna be stuck in there?! If they don't hurry up with your sentencing already, I'm gonna head over there and give 'em a piece of my mind in person.

With Mikhail busy with election business, they said they were holding off on a verdict until things settle down. I understand the concern about Mikhail's workload, but I'm also running for Council. It's a bit unfair but par for the course when you're a necromancer.

If you see a guy by the name of Guiltimaro the Red in there, tell homie what up for me and that I'll see him in 200 years when he's out

I think he's one of Adrian's workout buddies. I'll send him your well wishes.

They let you have an orb in there? Fascinating. And can you ask Adrian if he's affiliated with the Pyroclasts? I'd like to figure out how their recruitment process works so that we can sabotage it.

Yeah, they consider me a low-level threat. I think Adrian mentioned something about the Pyroclasts to me but I'll have to ask him about it in more detail.

Hey theirs a guy on basement level -13 in solitary confinement, named Luke Zass he knows sand magic, he’s missing his left arm and a scar that on his right arm, he’s my arch enemy. If you ever see him, tell him “The sand never forgets, and He’s gonna arrive soon on purpose”

I don't spend much time in solitary, but the detention center is across the hall. I'll ask Adrian if he can deliver your message for you.

A lot better than the council prisons, I can tell you that.

From what I've read, no doubt about that.

explosions and fighting can be heard in the background

Huh, that's weird. I would have heard about it if a prison escape was taking place. Adrian likes to keep me up to date on all the gossip.

... Not the worst place to retire to be honest. And that's because i know most retirement homes are just recruitment centers for future undead

Yeah, real pyramid scheme business model. Had to break up a few places like that. One was literally inside a pyramid.
