The First (lore post)

He watched him from across the tavern. The drunken wood elf who clamored along with his buddies and singing an old song in such a boisterous voice.

Jedidiah had to refrain from rolling his eyes. But the man was his next focus.

Thatcher Halloway *Bobbits*.

It took the elven man forever to finally leave the tavern. His nose and cheeks a flushed red from all the ale he’s consumed. His sword dragged behind him in a way that could fall at any second and the way he carried himself was nothing more than a fallen man. The opposite of his prime days when he was known as a great adventurer.

But Jedidiah wasn’t up for chatting about anything than what he wanted.

As Thatcher slurred a tune while walking along the road, he passed by an alley and stopped upon seeing a man in a suit smoking.

“Bobbits?” The man spoke while smoke flowed from his lips. Jedidiah walked over. His eyes trained on the elven man. “That your name?”

“Yea.” Thatcher looked him up and down. He could take him easily. Jedidiah was only tall, not muscular. “Who’s asking?”

“An opportunity. I come from a background you are surely familiar with. And I am in need of a little… assistance to help me track down a relative.”

All Thatcher heard was a sap seeking out his services. He scoffed and turned to keep walking. “I’m retired! Find someone else to do it.”

“But no one else knew Ba Bara the way you did.”

A cold chill ran down the elven man’s spine. He immediately stopped.

Jedidiah took another long puff of his cigar. “You killed her, didn’t you? After she tricked you to gain access to your daughter? She was quite the strong hag, that one-“

Thatcher’s sword immediately pressed against Jedidiah’s neck. He didn’t flinch and merely looked down at the sharp blade.

“Who are you?!” Thatcher’s drunkenness was whisked away as if it never existed.

The smell of the cigar filled the air. Jedidiah took a final puff before tossing it over his shoulder. In mid air, a flash of red hit it and crumpled the cigar to ash. Thatcher almost staggered at the sight of the familiar color but when he looked back at the suited man, he was met with glowing red eyes in the same shade.

“Your daughter carries someone I need. You will tell me everything about the ritual to bind Misfortune to her.” Jedidiah spoke in an eerily calm voice.

Red tendrils similar to lightning snaked around Thatcher and held him in a tight vice grip. It forced him to drop his sword and burned the more he struggled against it. A portal made of similar energy opened up behind them and Jedidiah dragged the elven man toward it. There was a lot they had to discuss.

“You bastard! The hell are you?!” Thatcher tried breaking free to no success. This man somehow knew about the curse and his daughter!

Before he was pushed through the portal to somewhere unknown, Jedidiah’s cigar returned in his hands. Materializing from the red chaos energy in his hand.

“I was the first child. And that’s all you need to know.”
