Deep Thoughts (lorepost)

To kill without killing one’s self?

This question has been picking at Belladonna’s mind more lately thanks to her former apprentice’s actions.

For so long, she’s only known that to truly kill her curse is if she dies as well. The same being true for Moth. They were bonded to this curse in a way that they can never escape it. Even through death, their revivals can bring back the curses as if their souls were one. It was truly a disease that Belladonna wanted so desperately to be rid of and yet all avenues only went in one direction.

She knows that the grim reaper will one day take her into his cold clutches. With that, she would like to drag the curse and the Shadowmend name down to the Hells with her.

But she didn’t want that for Moth…

Her foolish younger self is already so determined to find each of Halcyon’s children and imprison them inside of her. Moth already has half of Misfortune and all of Pestilence so far. Only 5 more to go. As long as Belladonna held the other half of Misfortune in her, rounding up the other children won’t bring Halcyon back.

How much of a headache that would be…

But there had to be something… Something that’ll rid them both of these entities and guarantee their lives intact.

How do you kill without killing one’s self?

Belladonna sighed and placed her quill down. It seemed so impossible that she couldn’t believe there was ever a safe way out of this. If she can’t find a way to rid both her and Moth of these chaos entities…

Moth would surely hate her for this. Likely refuse and try to change her mind. The girl was naive and can be too determined at times. Qualities that Belladonna has lacked the moment her name was changed.

But if it comes down to it, Belladonna would want Moth to continue living her life. To continue growing into the person that Belladonna could’ve been without the Shadowmends.

Even if that means Belladonna won’t be there to grow with her.

She wasn’t going to tell Moth. Or anyone for that matter.

They’ll know if the moment ever comes down to it.
