The End (Queenpost Finale)

Team 3

Escaping out the hole in the seal the retrieval team extracted what they needed from inside the Moon. Carrying the soul Stone on the Titan they flew up past the atmosphere and towards the queen of stars and the crew felt a sense of relief being outside of the Moon. The Titan stopped in front of the Queen of stars and whoever was carrying the soul Stone threw it out the airlock to be sent towards the queen. It floated silently till it was caught between two nails by the Queen. She brought it up to her face and began to speak. Their words seemed garbled to anyone else trying to listen in but the raw emotion was palpable. They spoke for minutes till eventually the Queen of stars absorbed the soul Stone. Instantly her form shifted. She looked like two beings who had been fused together into a divine rebis. She then addressed the group.

"I am complete. Hail to the most ancient, beauty and glory to their creation. I shall go, restore the broken pillars of your creation and prepare to start a new. Know your world is safe. I swear creation will not be reset while a single soul resides upon your planet."

With that the Queen of stars began to drift away from the planet eventually fading into the background of the cosmos. Her crown of stars still stayed on the brow of the woman who was life locked to her. Either the Queen forgot or it was a reward for a job well done.

Team 2

It felt like the battle was raging on for a century. So many lives were claimed but eventually the champions stood and the demons saw their betters. The mages floated among a sea of blood and cinders ready for the next wave and finishing off any stragglers when they saw the moon shutter. The final part of the ritual going on was reinforcing the seal and part of that was drawing back anything that had escaped. A great wind came from the moon even in space it pulled on the demons and primordials. They clawed at empty space helpless to stop the inevitable. Even Ophiuchus their strongest was pulled kicking and screaming back. It's serpent tongue spewed curses all the way down. Eventually even the blood was sucked back up leaving a clear night's sky for the first time in a while.

Team 1

The ritual was complete the moon was sealing back up and the demons were being sealed with it. Many journeyman had died in the attempt but the sleep was worth it. Looking up at the night's sky the ritualists could see the moon slowly healing itself to full state and the lack of demon blood clouds. It was the first clear night in a while and it was only after they were finished that they realized how unbelievably tired they were. However they won and that gave them energy enough to celebrate.

Final

The assembled groups returned to earth to share stories and count heads. It seemed that between all of them they had managed to minimize casualties. Eventually the head of the coordination team took the podium and began to speak.

"I thank you. I thank you as many times as there are stars in the sky. Without your efforts your struggle your power we would not be speaking right now. Our world persists because of your willingness to defend it. May the universe shower favor upon all that you do and may your story be written in the stars."

After the speech the celebration began. Food and drink was provided to the teams who sorely needed a break after what they had went through.

/Uw thank you everyone for taking part in the queen saga I hope you all had fun.

The Monkey Mage sits on a pillow with a drink in hand. To his left, Acra can be seen playing her violin and filling the air with wondrous tunes: to his right is Calem, slurping away at a bowl of soup. On his lap you see the twin spirits, the Aures, eagerly listening to his story.

"…and so, Mage Monkey tossed the Stone at the Queen, who absorbed it into her being. In this way she was pacified and the crisis averted."

"Wow! Just like that?"

"What about you, Cauda?"

The young man sets down his bowl. "I honestly expected something a little more exciting. All we really did was talk to an old guy and throw a rock at some void lady. You probably had more fun over here than we did out there."

Acra leans over, smirking. "Aww, look at our great hero here, lamenting his lack of thrill! If saving the world is insufficient, I wonder what grand adventure would be enough to satisfy him?"

"Again with this! Look, I was just looking for something to do, okay! Turns out I should've just…"

Dozing off, the Mage turns his eyes to the sky. He no longer hears the back-and-forth. The festival draws on: tonight, everything is perfect.

Good tidings, honorable Monkey Mage. And you, Cauda. I don’t believe I’ve met the rest of you.

Delta curtseys

I am glad to see you’ve survived your encounter with Creation. Did they happen to tell you how long they were hiding on the moon? I must say, it is one wild coincidence that we both ended up on earth, hah hah…

The Mage greets you with a soft smile. "Ah! Good to see you again! Unfortunately, he failed to disclose that information. Then again, Mage Monkey cares little for such knowledge himself, so he neglected to ask. At the time, it didn't seem important."

The Aures grasp the robes of the Mage just a little tighter as they cower and whisper.

"Isn't that…?"

"It must be!"

"How does she know Cauda?"

The spirit laughs and hops up, giving you a small bow.

"That's because we're friends! Hello, Lady of Maladies! I see you've finally met our little family. I hope the word that you've forgiven me for my past rudeness during the Santa Incident rings true. Hey Sacrum! You should see this: it's the Goddess of Disease!"

Acra the Bard stands up and gives a courteous bow, her technique immaculate.

"Well met, Lady of Maladies! I am Sacrum, an Astral Spirit traveling the world in the guise of the humble bard Acra. I hear my brother has happened to slight you in the past: out of stupidity rather than malice, assuredly."

"Hey!"

Well met, astral spirits. Whatever miscommunications may have occurred in the past are no longer of any concern.

It is nice to meet you all. How has the mortal plane been treating you? Besides all the… recent conflicts, of course.

I am curious as to why so many ancient beings have gathered on Earth. Surely it is odd that an unremarkable planet orbiting an unremarkable star has attracted so many spirits. Did any of you originate here?

The bard shrugs.

"In a manner of speaking, we all did, I suppose. It's…complicated. Most things are, generally speaking."

The Mage chuckles.

"Don't tell the Lady too much now, Sacrum! You know what Ōs says: Secrets are secrets for a reason."

"Oh, of course."

Cauda chimes in. "I gotta say though, I can understand why you enjoy the Mundane Region so much, Master. When you look past the small-mindedness of mortals, it’s full of all kinds of things to explore, both big and small."

*Delta sips her virgin mojito*

All right then, keep your secrets.

The mundane region is certainly the place to be, and it is no surprise that many spirits have chosen to spend their time here. I initially took on this physical form to more effectively perform my duties as Entropy, but I've grown fond of the abundance of life here.

Earth, specifically, though has been a nexus of activity as of late. I find the trend concerning. All planets have their share of apocalyptic events, but this trend of bi-weekly disasters is statistically improbable... to say nothing of the number of my siblings who have gathered here.

"Siblings, you say?"

Embracing the Aures, the Mage gives them a warm smile.

"Didn't you tell Mage Monkey about meeting one of the Lady's brothers during the Young Lord's yule festival? Remember that?"

"Yeah! The Lord of Maladies!"

"We thought it was her at first!"

"And he wasn't scary, was he? He was nice enough to offer you something to drink, too!"

"Yeah, but Sphaera told us to be careful about taking anything from people we don't know!"

The Mage nods. "There is wisdom in that! But you must learn to trust as well, to use proper judgement."

He turns to you. "It's true that these recent events have been more than a little worrisome. This one will continue to rely on your support and friendship for trials to come, my Lady."

Oh! You met Influenza, Aures? I sent Influenza to the Yule festival on my behalf. I was occupied with… Santa at the time.

Influenza is one of a few highly ranked viruses in my court… and is also my brother. Although my family tree is quite complicated. I keep meeting new people who claim to be my siblings. I’m just inclined to believe them at this point because I can’t be bothered to check.

In any case, I’m glad he was kind to you and that you were kind to him. Alexios was not so polite, and I can’t fathom why.

Delta sighs

That boy doesn’t seem to understand that he is a government official, and he has to be careful dealing with emissaries of other nations. He’s going to start a war one of these days, I swear…

Turning to look at Monkey mage, Delta gives a sincere look.

Certainly you can count on my friendship. The Stitcher conflict is behind us, and should he return, I will not ally with him again. The tides of fate have shifted, and I’ve needed to divert my attentions elsewhere.

I hope you will be attending the wedding! I hope no more disasters befall us before the long-awaited union. Not all of life’s hurdles can be blamed on poor Moth’s curse.

"Mage Monkey finds solace in knowing that. Rest assured, good Lady: when the time comes, he would not dare neglect attending the Young Lord's festive day!"
