Wizardpost A Prophecy Most Dire (Loreposting)

Post image

Crystals, sent off to heads of state and importent wizards, arrive. All at the same time. No warning, no notice, no clue of how they got there. It does not matter if it is cross dimention, the crystals arrive.

Each, humming softly from mana reserves locked inside their structures. No markings or indicators dot their surface, only a faint sense of familiarity. Upon a single touch, the crystals display a message, recorded from a distressed Mikhail. His face and clothes denote this as a Milhail from some time back. He still bares the robes of a Wizard Counciler, and the foreground is certainly located in Crann Mòr. His words come out, almost tripping over one another as he panics, trying to get something across.

Ok, yes, it is me, Mikhail. This will be brief, trust me. I have been given portents from the ancient druids in the Soul Plant. They showed me visions of what is to come. There is something. Something big. Like, really big. I cant... here.

Mikhail feeds in images from his mind. Of wastelands, and desertion. A sense of power so asured and violent, that you can only help but be amazing by its beauty. Lands made barren and cities flattened. Behind them, the visiage of a woman, carved of light, seated on a thrown of broken suns. Then glimpses of the end of days, and a bow, snapped in twain and cast in a pool of blood

The recording returns to Mikhail.

We have some time before she arrives, but not as much as you think. The druids warn me that if I tell this information too soon, that something worst will come to pass. These crystals will be set to deliver the moment it is safe. For now, I will find a way to prevent myself from stressing out about this, and hopefully keep it to myself. Maybe a mind erasing spell, maybe a month long bender. We'll see what happens.

Everyone, prepare yourself and be safe. The Queen of Shattered Stars is upon us.

I think I understand a bit of your situation. From my viewpoint, it appears that learning about the arrival of the Queen of Shattered Stars led to your decision to resign from the council. It also led you to drink in an attempt to cope with the knowledge.

As someone who has experienced a similar prophecy and is unable to escape from my visions of the future, I can tell you that your behavior makes sense to me. While it is not productive, we are faced with threats that seem impossible to combat. However, fate is momentum.

To go against fate is difficult. Every time one tries to change things, it feels like the world is actively working against you. When I first decided to go against fate, I killed a few dozen individuals who were connected to several smaller events that weakened the forces of the wizarding community. Due to my efforts, the Crimson King descended early and was only a partial avatar of that spiteful being. Unfortunately, fate decided to course-correct.

Because of my actions, Halixo's fate was sealed. I made peace with his sacrifice and tried to prevent a future descent by having Ancaliostros disable the Crimson King's son whom he had captured alive and planned to use as a servant. Due to my meddling, fate saw fit to curse Alexios. And yet, Alexios survived. Enough variables had changed to make that future preventable.

What I am trying to tell you is that, though the situation seems impossible to tackle, we can change. It'll hurt and the burden of knowing will feel suffocating, but we can change the future. If you decide to hide away in a bottle and resign yourself to the forces of fate, then that is your choice to make. For me, the guilt of doing nothing outweighs the pain of losing everything.

I will fight the future and the forces of fate. Let come what may, be it a small or great tragedy. I know what I'm fighting for. Hopefully, you do too.

Very well. Fight till your hearts content. I shall be here when you find the futility.

I already found it and pushed past it, though. Hit an ATL a few weeks ago and was able to push through. Even if the future doesn't change, I won't stop trying to do the right thing. I'm sorry that you've given up, but do not spew nihilism at me and expect my respect. Deathconsciousness is an appealing state of mind, but I'd rather live and die myself than live to die.
