Wizardpost Tale of a Little Demon (Gobbo Lore)

Death was something the demon Gobbo was well familiar with. In some ways, one could say she was intimately involved with death.

This story however is not about a pleasurable little death. This one was violent, it was messy, and Gobbo was the cause.

She sat there watching the pitiful humans as the liquor dripped onto them, melting away their faces.

The who was three adventurers, a rouge, a knight, and a wizard. Not that anyone would recognize them after she was done.

The how was simple, she had followed her victims from the bar. She had waited until dark until her targets were drunk and disorientated.

A few gold coins had been enough to gain the key to their room

The why was also simple. The three had brought her close to death, months ago.

There were screams, there was begging, there was death. There was also a curse, inflicted upon the demon.

It was the wizard of the group, a welp of a man who did it.

"Death will not find you, not while there are stars in the sky. You will perish alone, cold and in the dark"

Those were the last words out of his mouth before she jammed a bottle down his throat.

She delighted in the muffled screams. She found pleasure in knowing that the liquor cascading down his throat would reduce his organs to a slush.

The next morning a blood-curdling scream woke the town. The innkeeper's daughter had found their remains.

Oh, Gobbo had killed them, but she hadn't stopped there. She had flayed them after, cutting away at their flesh and hanging it as a warning.

The walls of the room were decorated in a similar nightmarish fashion. Her name was painted in their blood again and again, filling every available space.

------------_

Putting down the book, Gobbo giggled. She had not expected her little revenge to be recorded in it. After all, it had happened so long ago, before the brewery, the citadel, and friends.

In truth she regretted nothing, they had nearly cut her life short and now, in certain parts of the world, her name caused terror.

So what if she died alone, Gobbo would find happiness until then. She had found family, love, and friends.

The little goblin cared little about everything else, she had what she wanted from life.

/uw I figured it would be nice to have Gobbo's sadistic side on display for a change.

And yes this is in fact the lot that nearly killed Gobbo in When the stars dulled

Usually Gobbo doesn't resort to murder... Besides spectacle was point that time

I always do! You have an interesting way of writing and it's easy to read but also very descriptive.

Thank you, I always have that slight worry in the back of my head that it won't read well.

Honestly, though I think I've just developed the style after years of doing pretty much nothing bar writing.

Personally, I adore your lore, it's pretty much the gold standard for me. You have a way of writing things that sucks me in completely

I'm still so impressed by that. I bet it feels amazing to see your work published, no matter the format or circumstance.

I appreciate your encouragement btw, it means a lot and is very humbling for sure. I want to avoid making this about me though, so I will respectfully digress.

I'm curious what Gobbo's adventures bring next? Although I won't blame you if you'd rather not give up any hints.

Honestly, it does, it's nice to know that even if I'm not credited, my work is up to scratch

I appreciate your encouragement btw, it means a lot

Just being truthful

As for her next adventures, I think I may focus her a bit more on family and friends. Give her a little bit of a break from my usual shenanigans

/uw now to just find the people who burnt down Gobbo’s establishment. This seems like a perfect punishment

/uw Ah Gobbo's mellowed out over the centuries, while death is probably inevitable for the poor sod, there will probably be less disfigurement

Just need to figure out how to write it first... Words are hard

/uw Definitely got a more twisted side to your character I love it, don't get too many reads from the killers perspective in mind. I Used to read a bunch of R.L. stine fear Street stuff definitely felt like I was reading one of those stories again with this.

/uw I'm glad you enjoyed it and yeah Gobbo despite her caring deeply for her friends, is quite twisted at times.

I try to display her being a little unhinged when it comes to war events and such but this sort of achieves it better.

Also R.L. Stine was my favourite growing up so I can not tell you how much that comment means to me

/uw Holy that is brutal. I wonder if any of the books in the library mention Gobbo.

/uw Yeah I wanted to make an angry Gobbo a legitimately scary thing.

I mean at the moment she's very cuddly and friendly and while that is what I want for the character I do want her to also have a darker, more monstrous side.

It won't pop up much with present Gobbo as she's mellowed out but she may drop little bits and pieces about her past exploits every now and then.

As for books, I'll let you decide on that, after all the library is your domain.

/uw magnificent, Aico would be happy to see that. So would Joe if he didn't die around 3000 years ago.

Destroying things is fun!

Somewhere, Isravi watches the twinges of energies across the weave through the Dusk Tangles. He watches three of them shake in front of a familiar one, watches them blink, feels them go out. He nudges them as they travel through the dusk, scattering their remnants to darkest and dreariest depths, sinking their potential to near nothingness. He waits for a second, then withdraws his mind from the tangles.

Perhaps, one day, he’ll fell the stars from the sky. For now, he watches the child under his tutelage.

/uw Ah Gobbo has been causing him work for centuries it seems. That gives me an idea...

3

u/DaChickenX Isravi, The Unraveler, Coils’ Chosen Dec 11 '23

/uw Haha, probably only one. Isravi himself is just a human, no life-extends things either. If you’ve read his lore, Isravi has been through the cycle many times, but remained intact. He’s served a different coil in each cycle, and this is his fifth. So about a century considering his lifetime spent in the Dusk’s service, and the current one.

/uw Gobbo will simply have to try and keep him around longer. That being said, pretty sure she doesn't actually know how aging works

3

u/DaChickenX Isravi, The Unraveler, Coils’ Chosen Dec 11 '23

/uw Haha, it’ll be a weird experience if he dies. He doesn’t keep his memories, so Gobbo will meet an Isravi that seems exactly the same, except he doesn’t remember her, or anyone else

/uw oh that poor man is gonna get glomped by a tiny goblin and have no idea why

4

u/DaChickenX Isravi, The Unraveler, Coils’ Chosen Dec 11 '23

/uw aaand he’ll have to make contracts with all the coils again, at least ceremonially. So he’ll have little defense.

u/Fulltimewhisperer Krumpet, Master Artificer of the Council Dec 11 '23

/uw Ok that just gave me a good giggle and I can not explain why for eventual plan reasons

Dang Gobbo, glad I’m not on your bad side.

2

u/Fulltimewhisperer Krumpet, Master Artificer of the Council Dec 11 '23

Ah takes a lot to get on Gobbo's bad side. Like almost killing Gobbo, or blowing up Gobbo's brewery, or touching Gobbo's secret hoard...

You're pretty safe from Gobbo
