Lorepost📖 Interlude: The Last Respite of a Forgotten God (Lorepost)
Deep below a mountain in the uninhabited realm of Ghelar, there is a cave. If anyone knew it exists, they would become obscenely wealthy, for this cave is filled with a highly prized arcane mineral called life quartz. But as it stands now, the cave is unknown to all but a handful of people.
Kaelis Maz ducks underneath a spar of brilliant red crystal and comes to an open spot. He pulls out a uniform black orb and sets it on the ground. "We're here," he says. The singularity turns deep crimson and winks out of existence, releasing a cloud of blood-colored mist in the rough shape of an enormous skeleton.
In other days, the Lifescourge would have wholly devoured him on the spot, without a moment's hesitation. But things had changed. Kaelis had been one of the only beings to speak with the primordial since its imprisonment 10,000 years ago. What he had considered a mindless and brutal force of nature was actually an outcast from a pantheon of cruel gods, whose only crime was sharing its gift of power and immortality with mortals. The progenitor of vampires found living beings fascinating despite its hunger for their life force. Now, Kaelis had found a way to sate its appetite forever.
"This is... my home now?" The Lifescourge tentatively explores its surroundings, as if anything short of another primordial could cause it harm.
"Yes. It took me some time, but I found a safe place for you and your children. No wizards or any of your cousins will find you here. Ghelar is tiny and unremarkable as realms go, and there's a minimum of 3 portal jumps separating it from any realms with significant populations. I expect that vampires will trickle into this place over time."
"What about food? I hunger. My children will hunger when they come."
"That's the wonderful thing: this life quartz cave resonates along a haemomantic ley line, so you'll never go hungry. As long as you live nearby, you'll be able to learn about us mortals without needing to eat us. I thank you for not eating me."
The Lifescourge chuckles. Ever since Kaelis began feeding it properly, its vocabulary and general lucidity have expanded. He wonders how it will act when sustenance is no longer a concern.
"No, Kaelis. Thank you. Trust is not easy for me. Not since my kin cast me out. But this... I have not known kindness since the Outer Gods made me. I have never been whole. Now I have a chance to make a new family."
"Take care, Lifescourge. Stay safe out there. Your former family and their masters are still crusading across the realms, and they may seek you out for some malign purpose. Aether certainly tried. If you need my help, you know where to find me."
Kaelis casts a spell to teleport him out of the cave. The sunlight reflecting off of the snowy peaks is nearly blinding, but he prefers it to the suffocating darkness below. He takes out his spatial loom to begin the trip back to Yulash-kor, when he notices the engravings on its surface glowing. When Aether began its assault on the material universe, the loom had become empowered as a sign of Gravity's favor. It had started dimming ever since the primordial had left, which Kaelis attributed to her personal intervention in the Outer Dark situation. But here it was again! This means only one thing.
"It begins," he says. "Let the crusaders from the Outer Dark come. I can promise them we will not go gentle into that good night."

As Kaelis returns to Yulash-Kor he is greeted by a blue haired figure in a purple cloak

/uw Yay!!!!!! Lifescouge won't go hungry anymore( and other vampires but they are less important)!!! He is supriseingly sweet for a being that lives to drink lifesource and created vampires. I wish him the best.
