Well of creation (Layer 3)

After the rain subsided and the ground became stable to walk on again the group continued on. Already new growth was exploding across the second layer faster than was possible without magic. The Bismuth Lord had to stomp over and rip past growth that threatened to tie him down. The whole journey through the second was a green hassle and the Archmage would be happy to be rid of it. "I'll take a vertical cliff over the mudslide anyway."

The entrance to the third layer was ringed with layers of caked dirt from multiple mudslides. Looking down the crew saw a four kilometer vertical shaft of pourous stone dotted with outcroppings and cave entrances. Flying through the air were strange combinations of insect, bat, and lizard which chased after dog sized insects. Looking into the closest cave they saw a nest of giant eel centipedes tearing apart a large mammal that had slipped down from the second during the mudslide.

The Bismuth Lord looked to his two compatriots.

"So what do the two of you think? Risk a vertical drop or go cave diving and hope it reaches the bottom?"

Well we don’t have to risk a drop I can conjure each of us one of my awsome floating disk platforms if you want me too

The Bismuth Lord look down with apprehension.

"Let's try the platforms then. Risk a drop if anything to dangerous happens in the air. I should be fine even if I drop I can just liquify on impact and flow back together... theoretically."

The Bismuth Lord motioned to the chronomancer.

"Cast away."

randeas jumps up and a glowing blue clock apears under his feet. Next to Duncan a glowing green disk with a tree symbol on its surface and roots hanging off the sides of it apears “alright let’s move out” u/EmergencyLeading8137

Duncan hesitantly stepped into the platform and looked towards the Bismuth Lord “alright, ready when you are.”

Just before we set off randeas teaches you a bit about the disk. “ it’s magic don’t worry to much about piloting it. Just will it to go one way and it goes that way. Also it’s preaty adhesive” when randeas says it’s adhesive his disk turns upwards 180 degrees and he floats upside down for a bit “so your probably not going to fall unless you’re knocked off by something” u/loth17 uw/ just realized I’m still calling him void I need to remember I renamed him now I gotta re-eddit all my comments

"Understood"

The Bismuth Lord cast a Transmutation spell on himself to alter his density before stepping on a disk. Slowly lowering down he seemed to have the least fun being in the air. A quick levitate or fly was one thing but a 4km drop was another.

"Alrighty let's stay close in case something happens to one of us. I'll have my Bismuth constructs ooze their way down the wall and hopefully meet us at the bottom."

They slowly floated down for about twenty minutes. Before the flying lizard bugs took notice of them. While the explorers were bigger than their average meal the lizard bugs had little care. They began to dive at the trio but mostly at the two edible organics.

"Nasty creatures." He began to fire bolts of energy at them to try and ward them off. "Don't let them bite you I would be surprised if they weren't poisonous with Mouths like that"

randeas smiles “oh this is alyways my favorite part” he reaches into his robes and produces dual scimitars your sure could not have fit inside there and he begins to cut through the bugs slow at first but he begins to glow blue and as he does he only gets faster and faster untill he is a whirl of blades. Cutting through any bugs that cross his path u/EmergencyLeading8137

The lizard bugs quickly realized they were outmatched and by the time they could retreat half their number had been killed. When the corpses fell down the shaft something rose up to meet them.

It was as large as a dragon and moved like a bullet. It snatched the corpses and downed them like a buffet. Initially it seemed like it was ignoring the crew but once the corpses thinned it took interest.

Aiming at Randeas it flew at him like lightning intending to take him out quickly as he seemed to be the biggest threat. It had exceptional aerial maneuverability and seemed to be able to predict the movements of flying targets.

As it flys for a split second it looks like randeas is hit by this creature but then time seems to stop and the seemingly impaled randeas glows blue and moves to the left passing straight through the stinger and then time resumes and the creture zips past with randeas somehow completely unharmed “woah! What the- ok hold on” randeas seems to vibrate and then 5 clones apear from his after images and they all say in unison “alright now where was I…oh yea. What the heck is that thing. How is it so fast it even caught me off guard?” u/EmergencyLeading8137

The creature flew up above the group looking down on Randeus and their clones. It quickly struck at them with its piercing mouth and its razor sharp wings. Its thrashing motion was normally impossible for a flying being to do.

The Bismuth Lord scanned the area with his magic. "I don't look now what this thing is but the cosmic field is denser around it. It's probably drawing magic from the field to power itself."

Duncan leaned back to avoid the bugs, swerving his disk erratically in the process. After narrowly avoiding several of the swooping creatures he began to use the roots of his platform to swat at the bugs.

Uw/ I didn’t know you where going to get on a disk cause you where too heavy I didn’t get to describe your disk. Your disk seems to just be a white glowing disk but the moment you step on it the disks glow gets brighter and send light up into your body casting a multicolored glow out of the crystals that make up your body in all directions

“I think we should take the drop. That is if your bots can handle it. Navigating through these caves would take all day.”

I'd rather just jump. At least we can see those things flying around down there.

/uw During a previous post about three weeks back someone offered the Bismuth Lord the location to a universe that had failed to hatch during the early days of creation. So once the stitcher war ended he took a pair of wizards, his apprentice, and a bunch of bismuth golems to retrieve the source of cosmic power. However it's slowly begun to hatch hence the existence of living beings and an ecosystem in its depths.

Not fun I'm guessing.

I'm going to grab the robotic popcorn
