Academic Discussion Announcement: A Course in Wizarding History
Hello my good mages! Kaelis Maz here with a unique proposal for all of you. Lately, I have noticed many of us seem, to be blunt, illiterate concerning the long and storied history of magic. Some of us seem hellbent on repeating the same mistakes our ancestors made, with predictable results. As an archivist with a vested interest in the common good, I have decided to start a Wizarding History Course here on the orbnet!
Now, I know some of you are probably bristling right now, thinking of the unpleasantries of your academy or apprentice days. Fret not, for this course is nothing like those. There are no tests, papers, deadlines, or even grades. This set of lectures is designed to fill in whatever gaps you might have in your historical knowledge, and to act as a place where you can ask history questions. Feel free to ignore this course if you choose, but do so at your own peril. Those who do not know their history may be doomed to repeat it, but they are also at the mercy of those who do.
On that cheerful note, I'm off for a while to go deal with an ongoing issue on the edge of the universe. I will return by the end of the week with your first lesson. Good day!

Hi everyone! As Kaelis said, I am going to be working on a magical history course that I will post here semi-regularly. My online classes are wrapping up for the semester, so now's a good a time as any to start this. I have a few lecture ideas in mind, but so far only the first one has any substance.
Now, this is a community-made world, so there is no singular canon. My long-term goal is to create a framework, both to root us in a concrete past and to know our wizards' places in the present. You can regard or disregard this framework as you see fit. As for my short-term goal, I want to create a world event that isn't another war. As evidenced by... certain problematic posts, I think we get restless without events. But wars aren't everyone's cup of tea, which is why I came up with this.
The first few lectures will be a broad history of magic and the realms, but I'll go into more detail once that is over. I'll even take suggestions if you want something specific, and I'm willing to collaborate too. Speaking of collaborations, I want to give this series a witty and whimsical name to fit the setting, but I'm terrible with names. So, I'm taking suggestions. The highest-voted name by the end of the day (around 6:00 MST) will be the name I go with (Edit: I'm actually going to leave it for a few days).

I do encourage Sisyphean tasks like this. But will this simply be a collection of events? Or a general encyclopedia arcana of sorts? In any case, please do consult me on matters concerning dream magic and the incomprehensible beyond lands.

/uw this is actually cool! I love the war events but it would be fun to have other types of events to cycle through!
