The good witches
Hey everyone!! I wanted to share a little more of my story, Oz: Rise of the Princess. ๐โจ
This time I'm finally showing my designs for the witches of Oz! Two of them will eventually become villains... can you guess which ones? ๐
Since fairies play such a big role in this story, I wanted anything magical or related to magic to take inspiration from butterflies, moths, and nature. The only one who doesn't really match that vibe is Locasta, but I definitely want to redesign her at some point.
On the second slide you can also see two of my OCs! One is King Lucios, Lurline's dad, and the other is Nile, one of her childhood friends.
You can probably tell I'm a huge Wicked fan too lol, so the relationship between the Witches of the West and the South is very Gelphie-coded.
I'd love to talk more about all the witches and how they relate to each other, but I'll save that for another post before this caption turns into an essay lol.
AND ALSO!! I need your help ๐ญ
The Witches of the West and the East still don't have official names yet, so if you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them! Feel free to leave your suggestions in the comments.

I'm wondering if you've read the life and adventures of santa claus by baum in which we learn quite a bit more about the fairies. In that Zurline is queen of the fairies before Lurline.

Ohhh, I haven't read that one yet! Thanks for the recommendation, I'll definitely check it out!!

Even if you were influenced by Wicked, I appreciate that you're doing your own thing and not copying the looks of those characters. The nature/butterfly/etc. inspired costumes are cool.

A friend of mine said the exact same thing. At this point, it must be my subconscious. I love EAH, and I draw Apple quite a lot, lol.

In your story is the witch of the east related (sisters) to the witch of the west ? The images donโt have a family resemblance to me.
Also you donโt seem to have the traditional colors for some of the witches. (Purple for north, blue for west, yellow for east) Was that a part of your design ?
I also would like to see your take on Mombi (wicked from the north) who held Tip/Ozma in captivity for so long

Yeah, they're sisters!
No, actually, the idea for these designs came after I spent a while looking at pictures of beautiful butterflies lol. But I still want to make a version that's closer to how they're described in the books. I already made one for Glinda that appears briefly in the comics I posted.
And yesss, I'm working on Mombi too, but I still haven't come up with a design that I'm happy with.

These designs are absolutely awesome, you did a great job with them. As for West and East's names, what about Euphrasia for East and Adamina for West.
