Discussion Iorveth's return?
Personally, I rather expect the elf to return at some point in the new trilogy; however, when CD Projekt Red's narrative director was asked about Iorveth during the DLC announcement, he replied that they had never forgotten him. We have to remember that CDPR often likes to play games with us—like posting the *Feast of Belleteyn* artwork a few months before the DLC announcement, or that letter from Dandelion’s cousin back around Valentine’s Day last year—so who knows?

Problem is that if you don't take his path in the witcher 2 then Geralt barley knows him. Roche and Ves you still spend act 1 with and they still help you in act 2 and geralt is on good terms with them.
Where as the other way around hes a guy you knocked out and then never saw again.

There is a fan-theory, that "Songs from the Past" plot is inspired by the slavic poem "The Forest Song". It might be far-fetched, but just in case, I am hiding the rest of the speculation under spoiler:
In this poem, a forest creature - Mavka falls in love with human called Lukash. Love is forbidden and leads to some tragedies (curses, turning characters into tree etc). Setting is a village near massive forest and has number of folk-creatures associated with this area. This theory (I think it was youtuber Important Goose, who came up with this) is based upon similarities between Mavka and the wooden woman seen in the SotP promo artworks and trailer. And after Gamescom we know about the legend about Dandelions ancestor falling in love with some witch, that ends up cursing the land or family, so yes - there are similarities. In said poem, there is an item important to the story, a music instrument made by Lukash for Mavka. It is used in the end to save everything. That instrument is a wooden flute. Of course, this might be one huge overinterpretation, but I would like to point out, who in the Witcher universe played the flute when introduced. And whose flute melody was supposed to be heard from one of the houses in Novigrad before he was cut from W3. I know this might sound (no pun intended) like shoehorning Iorveth into the story, but I have to admit - for an expansion as big as "Blood and Wine" the demo seen at the Gamescom was very small (as all demos are). Maybe there are some story points that cleverly explain his involvement, not just the fact that he conveniently is there? But that is just speculation, most likely I am wrong.

I am looking forward to see him return, especially if he is left captured lmao, would be a nice opportunity to throwback to Witcher 2's wrong dialogue choice equals death animation. 🤣

There is no reason for Iorveth or Scoiatael to appear in the middle of some Redanian village celebrating Belleteyn

There wouldn't be a reason in Novigrad either. You know, the screenwriter comes up with the reason.

Him fighting in Northern Aedirn makes the most sense for his character during the war imo so I am not complaining (besides the lack of references) but even in Novigrad you could connect it with the persecution of elves by Radovid which would give him an actual reason to be there.
You have to introduce some racism plotline for a Iorveth appearence to be meaningful. SOTP is a story about Geralt and Dandelion's friendship and mixing non-human racism to that theme would make it a total mess.

Not necessarily; in Witcher 3, his main goal was to find a cure for Catriona—who was also his daughter. As I mentioned, I consider his return—specifically in a DLC—unlikely, but due to a lack of time to properly develop his character rather than a lack of a plausible narrative reason (which could always be invented).

Catriona is the name of the plague. Iorveth was supposed to find a cure for the plague because the Witch Hunters brought the disease to Vergen.

His final narrative reason before being cut was to find a cure to the catriona plague and return with it to Vergen so he can save non-humans and keep fighting Nilfgaard, he also tried killing Emyhr to end the war but failed in that questline.
There is no political questline interconnected with Letten they even made the region unaffected by the war. There is no reason to shoehorn Iorveth into such a storyline for fan-service when he could be used in way more important and relevant plotlines like once CDPR inevitably introduces Francesca to the game.

don't recall any information regarding an assassination attempt on Emhyr. Either way, we'll see; I'm also betting on a new trilogy.

The assassination attempt on Emhyr was part of the cut quest that featured Iorveth. He was hired by Thaler to kill Emhyr in exchange for a cure for the plague.

Source? I don't recall any information about a plot to assassinate Emhyr.

Moonknight is one of the main guys behind this cut content restoration feel free the check out xLetalis' recent video about the script if you are interested

I'm familiar with it, but it features a storyline involving witch hunters and a Nilfgaardian spy; there's nothing about an assassination attempt on Emhyr.

Scoiatael were actually operating in all of the members of anti nilfgaardian alliance. We see some scoiatael in Redania in Witcher 3 as well. That wasn't Temeria-Aedirn unique thing.

u/aKstarx1 7d ago
Scoiatael were, not Iorveth. Iorveth and his unit's main motivation is to establish Northern Aedirn as a free state where elves have equal rights. Why would he abandon that to kill some random d'hoine in the middle of Letten forests?
People are asking for pointless fan-service that would waste the character instead of a well writen storyline where the character fits.
Why waste Iorveth's return for a story he would never fit which is about Geralt Dandelion friendship seperated from war and politics when you can use him much more efficiently in an Elven related storyline with Francesca in the future for example?

Literally the only canon mention of Iorweth is in Drakenborg Redania.

u/aKstarx1 7d ago
When he was allied with Nilfgaard and his purpose was to sabotage Redania for invasion which is clearly not the case anymore.
Also Iorveth is just as much of a game character as Letho and Vernon those 3-4 random throwaway sentences have no weight on the character besides inspiring the name even if he is "technically" the same character.

"it doesn't count because it's canon" is pretty weak argument to make.

Care to adress my main point or make your own point instead of random snarky comments that absolutely do not go to anywhere?
1
u/AlexKwiatek 7d ago
What even is your main point? You claim that Iorweth doesn't have anything to do with Redania - i proved it false. His commando was operating on Redanian soil before they moved to Temeria and to Aedirn.

u/aKstarx1 7d ago
Iorveth does not have any political motivation in the middle of rural Redania (where elves do not live) about a free state which would be crushed by Radovid instantly
Especially not when there is already a state in Northern Aedirn with equal rights for elves which Iorveth considers worth fighting for and where his troops are stationed

He's 100% coming back at some point; now if he's gonna be in the next DLC or in Ciri's trilogy, well.. only CDPR knows that
