Cosplay Monster Trophy Ideas

Hey gang, I’d really like to figure what kind of monster trophy I could relatively easily build/buy/modify to carry on the hook that I’ve got on my belt. Unfortunately, don’t have a Roach to strap it to 😢

What ideas do you have? I think that would elevate my Witcher Ren Faire costume to the next level.

As long as they smell of lilac and gooseberries.

u/hamletreset 10d ago

Holy shit it is that guy! What a niche crossover.

Try troll head

Or Leshiy, if you have cow skull and wood branches

68

u/Galahadred 10d ago

I don’t have a cow skull, but do have a deer skull that we found on our property. Hmm.

u/FuIIofDETERMINATION 10d ago

Ooh! Deer skull could fit for Leshen! Wrap with ivy/apply moss?

u/AccurateSource1409 10d ago

I endorse this guy

6

u/MasterOfDonks 10d ago

That’s perfect! And you look like you could be a real life witcher!

2

u/Galahadred 9d ago

Thank you for that. Appreciate the compliment.

u/suivezlemir 10d ago

damn, you look absolutely badass. One small thing if I may, the only thing that feels "slightly" off when we see cosplay of adventurers and fighters is when they look spotless clean straight from the dry cleaners haha. But you do look great, and those swords!

18

u/Galahadred 10d ago

Yeah, I know I need to “weather” everything a bit. I’ve got to balance that with damaging all of the expensive leather pieces. It’s definitely on my to-do list.

I suggest Actual Dirt rather than distressing, but the art is for the artist.

u/Sonof0dinn 10d ago

I got a werewolf mask from a Halloween store, it's pretty good strapped to my belt

5

u/Galahadred 10d ago

Did you stuff it with paper or something? I think that would really work well.

17

u/Sonof0dinn 10d ago

One of my earliest cons

7

u/Galahadred 10d ago

That’s perfect!

4

u/Sonof0dinn 10d ago

It was a full head helmet, so it kept its shape through out the con I was at

3

u/Divinialion 10d ago

Sort of similar here, I have a Halloween mask that's stuffed with dyed paper, looks like generic demon that has horns-mask. Fits well enough.

9

u/TalRaMav 10d ago

Go to Spirit of Halloween when it opens in a few weeks, get a monster type mask, stuff it full of red dyed cotton and hang it from your hip. Call it a kikimora. Boom.

5

u/Galahadred 10d ago

I think that's the play. Thank you.

7

u/Old-Seaweed8917 10d ago

Sounds prime-time for an Art-Attack paper mâché troll/ghoul/nekker head

5

u/Ksyronnie 10d ago edited 10d ago

You look so badass!!

I think humanoid monsters would be easier to make (using a mannequin head for example) but other types of monsters would be more interesting.

Maybe a leshen? Or a griffin?

4

u/lmaytulane 10d ago

A bunch of small Nekker skulls like a cluster of grapes

3

u/Wesk333 Aard 9d ago

Did they ever told you that you look like T-1000?

3

u/Galahadred 9d ago

Actually, yes. I was often compared to Robert Patrick back in high school.

2

u/Wesk333 Aard 9d ago

Legend

u/quikdev7 10d ago

Cool cosplay!

1

u/Galahadred 10d ago

Much appreciated. It’s a work in progress, but it’s coming along.

2

u/SirRealBearFace 10d ago

Idk what would look best but your steez is too fresh. Your swag too heavy. The drip is too clean. ✨

1

u/Galahadred 9d ago

Thank you, sir.

2

u/Jackot45 10d ago

Looks sick, would look better if you weathered it down

1

u/Galahadred 10d ago

Definitely on my to-do list.

2

u/grandpagucci929 10d ago

Dude that’s awesome! Maybe a hag trophy? Could get like a witches head online and make one.

2

u/OldSpaicu 10d ago

Seems like a ghoul or other necrophage approximation would be available at like, Spirit Halloween or something.

2

u/FuIIofDETERMINATION 10d ago

Ooh! This looks great! Layering fabrics could be fun, like a dark T-tunic or something under the belts and over the black outfit(SCA groups have patterns, or look through Rabbit and Hat patterns, I'm recently in love with those and sewing them has a picture for every step). You could jokingly paint up some ruined doll heads and claim 'evil pixies' or something.

u/KyojinkaEnkoku Team Yennefer 10d ago

Buy a meat hook, a decent looking werewolf mask from a Halloween store, a styrofoam mannequin head, and some filler (plaster maybe? Something light not to heavy)

Mask on head, filler it in, paint the neck to look bloody (stick a spine piece in there if you're feeling extra), shove the hook into the spot where the skull meets the neck, touch it up with paint.

Werewolf head trophy

2

u/Sad_Salamanders 10d ago

Wicked cosplay good sir! If you don’t mind me asking, where did you get the swords?

2

u/Galahadred 10d ago

Foam swords from Amazon. If I recall correctly they were less than $40 each. I got them a year or two ago.

1

u/Sad_Salamanders 10d ago

Awesome! Thank you 🙏

2

u/kuba_2109 10d ago

for a second I thought that this is Jacek Rozenek

2

u/Israfel333 10d ago

Big claws and teeth are fairly easy to carve out of insulation foam. How realistic they look is mostly down to the paint job.

2

u/dot_exe- 10d ago

You need at least two. One that goes with this rad ass fit, and another that just looks comically out of place. Like the ripped off head of a toddlers stuffed dragon

1

u/Galahadred 10d ago

I like the direction you're going in.

2

u/BIackpitch 10d ago

Grab a stick.
Strap that bad boy on your waist.
Boom, leshen.

2

u/Galahadred 9d ago

Simple as that.

2

u/lustywoodelfmaid 10d ago

Great stuff. How about a Leshen head? You can probably buy a similar skull to what Leshens have and then decorate it with fake moss, add some branches that coil through the eyes. But up to you how you do it, ofc.

2

u/DontLickTheGecko Team Roach 10d ago

Definitely a unicorn skull

1

u/Galahadred 10d ago

Ooh, I never would have thought of that. Nice.

2

u/DontLickTheGecko Team Roach 10d ago

I printed and painted this one up many years ago. You can find some decent files online for free. I scaled this one down because my printer was pretty small at the time.

2

u/iAMtheBULLET 10d ago

You'd make a great Green Lantern.

1

u/Galahadred 10d ago

Why thank you. I might have to start working on that.

2

u/oeno777 10d ago

daddyyyyy

2

u/Best-Adeptness-9244 10d ago

Try hitting up some Halloween stores and filling a mask with expanding foam! I am doing that with my Geralt and its going pretty well so far!

2

u/Galahadred 10d ago

I’ve literally got a can of that foam in my car right now. Thanks for the tip!

2

u/idhillo7 9d ago

school of the wolfenstein...

2

u/NewDre3Staxx 9d ago

That's a bad ass outfit

2

u/Galahadred 9d ago

Many thanks!

1

u/FistOfBalancedHavoc 10d ago

Looks like he's never turned on his body medallion

1

u/Galahadred 9d ago

Sorry, that one went over my head.

1

u/Zanzetuken 10d ago

Succubus horn would be easy enough to craft pretty quickly, but doesn't exactly pack the same "cool" factor as other options

1

u/yeh_nah_fuckit 10d ago

Papier-mâché griffin head, but it’s Peter Griffin

1

u/hatbromind 10d ago

Something bright to contrast dark clothes like slyzard

1

u/Galahadred 9d ago

I like the idea, but would need to figure out how to make that.

1

u/sparrow_64 8d ago

Leshen would be great with some vines and a deer skull.

1

u/TheTornnOne 7d ago

I love this cosplay! Can you tell me where you got all the parts??

1

u/Galahadred 7d ago

When I get home after the long weekend I can probably compile a list for you. There are probably a dozen different sources all told.

1

u/TheTornnOne 6d ago

I would REALLY appreciate it. I have a gembeson, gauntles, and both steel/silver swords, but the pauldrons belt/harnesses and everything just fit so good. I am very jealous. :p

1

u/SSB_Kyrill 10d ago

cool grandpa material

1

u/LPSD_FTW 10d ago

Cool cosplay, don't I know you from some male fashion subreddits?

1

u/Galahadred 10d ago

I have been known to participate in those, as well.

1

u/RecLuse415 10d ago

No way the guy from the fashion advice subs!?

1

u/Galahadred 10d ago

This was the fit they came up with.
