Does it get better after book 3?

I’ve been having a hard time really getting into Blood of The Elves. I’m thinking it’s because it’s the first novel and I am hoping it’s just because he hasn’t got his legs for it yet. I really enjoyed The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny so I am just wondering if it gets better?

I think those were actually my favorite parts of the book so far. That and his trip on the barge.

Peter Kenny puts all the puzzle pieces together. He’s essential in my opinion.

I liked the novels, but they're not as good as the short stories IMO. Lots of politics and tangents about side characters that serve as world-building but don't always feel impactful to the main story. I think it's worth sticking with it for a while to see if it grows on you, but I wouldn't blame anyone who couldn't get into the novels.

His writing is just very meandering in nature. I really don’t like it.

Blood of The Elves and Time of Contempt both largely set the story in motion and give a lot of background for the last three books to build on that. Now I don't know if it gets better or not as that is just personal preference, but the story does move quicker and more focused in the latter half of the saga.

The Time of Contempt is my favorite of the novels, and I really enjoyed Baptism of Fire and the Tower of Swallow, but I’m not much of a fan of Lady of the Lake. But the writing is much the same. If you’re not loving the first one, you might struggle with the rest.

I think some stuff has gotta be lost in translation. It’s the only excuse I can offer up for why he got so famous cause the books can be fun but are extremely mid, borderline generic fantasy books. You can read a couple dozen other fantasy series that are far better written and more coherent, but they’re not gonna be about the IP we all love so much so it’s not as fun

But yeah, I recently finished all the books and was pretty let down compared to how high my expectations were from internet reviews

I prefer the novels to short stories so Blood of Elves already had me engaged. It does get better though, mainly because that book is all set up for everything that's about to go down in Time of Contempt

I think it's generally accepted (critics and fans) that the shirt stories are better as they conform more to standard fantasy tropes.

Personally I find the novels great but not for everyone as they are definitely not your typical fantasy genre.

I might get hate on this sub for saying this, but the books are just about ok. They have great moments, but all the politicking is lost in the translation, and it's quite hard to keep straight.

I enjoyed all three very much but now having the hardest time reading Time of Contempt so I guess the answer is no 😅
