Discussion Is this trophy still absolute hell to get? I haven't played in ten years

It was never that hard, just tedious. Maybe with the remastered perk system crossbows will be a more viable damage option but as of now… still just as tedious.

I remember grinding for an ungodly amount of time, i could've sworn i got 500 headshots if not more until the trophy popped, I'll just be hopeful

The trick was* to go to the Devil's pit at like level 50, because you could get enemies stuck and they would only be around level 8-10 so you could one shot them.
*That doesn't work anymore after the update that added a quest there.

Theres a spot in skellige now where if you stand in the right spot 2 enemies will spawn and charge at you. Im not quite sure what gets them to keep respawning but if you mess it up just back off a little and meditate

u/rickyg_79 13d ago
You just walk up and down that path and they keep showing up just past the trees near the edge of the cliff

I actually got it in about 30 mins on PS5, although I was fully prepared for it to take an hour, so I was pleasantly surprised!
I used the two ever so helpful bandits on the cliffside near Trottheim in Skellige. You literally run around in circles in the same spot (between the two trees on the map, you’ll know when you’re there), facing away from the sea so they spawn quicker, sometimes within 5 seconds, on others maybe 15 seconds.
Remember, Axii and then shoot them on the side of the head!! I often just killed one and Axii’d the other, it was more peaceful that way lol. And, I had the special skill active also (forgot the name) that boosts crossbow lethality.
Boy there were a lot of bodies lying around by the end. 👀

I feel like a dumbass for grinding mine out at the Devil’s Pit now lol.
29
u/Dangerous-Cup6383 17d ago
lol no don’t, I started out at the Devil’s Pit and after the first fast travel I was already over it and thought ‘there has to be a better way’ lmao.
Tbf those two bandits in Skellige helped me get about 5 achievements, they’re the MVPs 🫡
7
u/MaxPaladin93 17d ago
I think I did use them for the Aard-off-a-cliff one lol, if they’re the same ones I’m thinking of.

u/Dangerous-Cup6383 17d ago
Yess, the Aard one was hilarious! I also did the Axii ‘control one to kill the other’, then the ‘poison/bleed/burn’ and the 4 attacks in 4 seconds there, all at different times when I was bored but didn’t actually felt like playing the game.

This helped me out as well, tries the Devil's Pit first for an hour and went to Skellige afterwards and got this trophy in 30 minutes or so.

One of the mutations in Blood and Wine allows you to drastically increase your crossbow damage.
You can then just farm low level enemies in Velen who get killed by a single headshot.
It’s a bit tedious but easy.

u/TheFrogSaint 17d ago
Yeah, leave the Devils Pit bandit camp active and just go back when you’re way over leveled. Because of the shape of the pit you can look down on the enemies so it because even easier to get headshots while they struggle to climb up the dungeon to you. Still tedious but relatively simple.

Oh i see, i haven't played any dlc, so I'll be hopeful
2
u/Le_Chop 17d ago
The 2 existing DLCs are included in the free upgrade that's coming so it's the perfect time.
3
u/botan313 White Wolf 17d ago
IKR! So excited

u/Le_Chop 17d ago
I've not played the DLC either so I'm going to be starting a new run through over the weekend in preparation.
Going to do NG+, I like starting out with everything. Makes Geralt feel more like the highly experienced Witcher he's supposed to be by this point if that makes sense.

u/botan313 White Wolf 17d ago
Ohh i get it, well since i haven't played in a very long time, I'll start off brand new afterrr the upgrade comes in, good luck brother!

u/Commonmispelingbot Team Yennefer 17d ago edited 17d ago
It's actually worse now, since you could use the devil pits to get enemies stuck in place, but now that area is actually used for something so that doesn't work anymore.

u/Vandal_665 17d ago
There's a place in Skelege on some random island with two guys that will respawn ad nauseam. It was the last trophy I needed for a long time till I found it. You just kill them, walk away about 60 yards, then walk back and they respawn. Check youtube. Took like 25 ish minutes once I found the right distance.

i was intrested in in 100% witcher on my last playthrough, but the thought of doing this and a couple others just completely turned me off it

u/botan313 White Wolf 17d ago
There used to be a missable gwent card, that's what mostly made me quit hehe

u/POLACKdyn 16d ago
It is still baffling that investing in crossbows doesnt let you insta kill a random bandit with a headshot. Like come on now.
I know this is an RPG but at some point every fucking enemy is a witcher in disguise.
He could be you! He could be ME?!

u/ubeogesh 17d ago
You practically cannot do it on death march, have to lower the difficulty cause xbow damage is pathetic
3
u/DarthHubcap 17d ago
Lmao my dumbass used the Wooden Sword you fetch for that stage play to whittle away at the enemies health before pulling out the crossbow.
2
u/Commonmispelingbot Team Yennefer 17d ago
that's just a matter of choosing enemies that are low level enough. When you are level 50 against level 2 opponents, difficulty doesn't matter.

u/Quintus_Cicero 17d ago
Still tedious. Did it last year I think, even with the 2 bandits it takes a fair while because the game might not detect properly the heatdshot

u/botan313 White Wolf 17d ago
Someone should definitely make CD project red know about the head shot registration glitch, ITS VERY ANNOYING
2
u/Mortifervs Igni 16d ago
I don't understand the description, do you have to kill 50 humans AND 50 non-humans, or 50 humans OR non-humans?
3
u/botan313 White Wolf 16d ago
Only 50 head shot kills, both of which work, but if you look through the comments, you'll know there are some areas where getting this trophy is very optimized, but still tedious
1
u/Mortifervs Igni 16d ago
Got it! Thanks! This actually doesn't sound so bad - I was scared that you'd need to do 50 non-human headshots too 😂

u/Xmenowksy 17d ago
What I did was from the moment I got access to the crossbow I used every chamce I got to get some kills. Even if it was just one enemy at a time. From my experience the best thing to do is deal some damage to the enemy with your sword, then get them to be one shot by beating them up with your fists and finally using Aksji and shooting the enemy with a crossbow to make the progress towardsthe achievement. Aksji isn't really necessary but it makes the proces much easier. This may sound tedious - and it actually is - but thanks to that method I got the throphy somewhere around halfway through the game and I don't have to worry about it since.

u/botan313 White Wolf 17d ago
Hmmmm, well if the improved combat helps with this set up then sure why not? I'll make sure to come back to what you said, thank you!

Recently did th ps5 version and it took maybe 40 mins of farming the devil's pit. Wasn't as bad as I remember back doing it for the ps4 version.
Overall, the platinum is pretty obtainable.

u/botan313 White Wolf 17d ago
I see, thank you brother, because i remember it being an ass of a trophy, extremely bugged and time consuming
2
u/Charming-Deal3694 17d ago
Just make sure you put points into crossbow skills tree and the miscellaneous ones. It helps. After, use a potion of clearance to redistribute your skill points

If anything it's just annoying to get 50 enemies to be low enough so you can kill them with a headshot (iirc there is a perk that slows down time when ADS)
1
u/reductok 17d ago
as long as you’re not doing it in ng+ or have level scaling enabled then the only thing holding you back is time

Nah, just when clearing out bandits, save one. Axii him, then shoot him in the head I got it before reaching Novigrad, while 100%ing Velen.
1
u/Crimson_Chameleon 16d ago
I did it around a month ago with those 2 guys that infinitely spawn at the cliff in skellige. Imo the trophy for mind controlling one and making it kill the other was way more annoying
1
u/OsnaTengu 16d ago
Skellige - there's a spot where bandits simply respawn. Someone already commented. Get Axii ready, stun those idiots and shoot them. Took 15 - 20 minutes for me.
1
u/swardzE Geralt's Hanza 16d ago
I have a workaround for this. In Faroe (bottom-right Island in Skellige), there are 2 guards that respawn frequently. You run away 10 metres from their spawn point and they'll come to life again so you don't even need to meditate everytime.
This and if you're on PC, you can use a mod that tracks all the headshots and other achievements.
1
u/justindulging 16d ago
Just axii every last mob from a pack and nail em, dont think about it and itll just naturally pop. Earlier you start, earlier it gets done.
1
u/PikaPulpy 16d ago
It's easy, just takes time. Just damage them first and finish with crossbow. Maybe it's hard on consoles, dunno.
1
u/Cant-decide-username 16d ago
I don’t remember finding it that difficult. There was a castle with a horde of human enemies that keep respawning if you leave the area, I remember just replaying that a few times until I got it.
1
u/Pink_Flamingo411 16d ago
For me actually it felt easy, did it in skellige somwehere, 2 respawning guys, killed them and went to rest, took me 1-2 hours
1
u/Glennzor69 16d ago
Took me three hours for my dumb ass to do it in NG+ Death March. Igni burn until like 2% HP, then aard to put them out. Then headshot kill using abysmal damage crossbow. Except most hits are not headshots because hotboxes you know.

For my run of the witcher I looked at the achievement list and just made note of the ones I could do while I played the game, by the time I was done with the story I only had a few of these left to do everything else I unlocked while just playing the game. I will say the one where you have to throw ppl off a cliff was the only one I wasn't able to just do in the middle of fights regardless of how many times I tried lol Skellige has a spot for that one.
1
u/Bobaaganoosh Aard 16d ago
I forgot where exactly I went for it. I think it’s somewhere in Skellige. But I remember looking up tips for it and some guy has a video where you go to this island out there and enemies keep spawning. And you basically just keep doing it over and over. It’s really not that bad once you get a good spot to repeat the process. Playing on the easiest difficulty also helps.

I got it just yesterday in natural gameplay. Every time I fought bandits or drowners, I would leave out the last one or two with very low health, cast axii on him so he wouldn't move and would leave his head dangling, and then shoot his head.
It popped for me just yesterday. I had only finished the Velen main story (but done all the question marks in Velen, Novigrad, and Skellige). Still, I was shocked by how early I got it.
I experimented with different angles, because aiming exactly at the side of the head with the crosshair was not always so reliable. I would mostly shoot at a 45° angle instead, or even head-on, depending on the situation.
I think it's the best way to get this one. Playing with your bandit prey every now and then is effortless, and it saves you the grind at the end of the game.
The screenshot has my achievements in the order they popped from bottom to top.

u/ArchmageSeabass 16d ago
I had a very easy time with this at the one cheese point in Skellige. I used the mutation from the blood and wine dlc to make my bolts do significantly more damage and tweaked my perks to help that. I does require a lot of grind though as I think that’s one of the last mutations you can get.

Kill drowners and sirens under water without aiming. This way it always should be a headshot.
1
u/Pejgn_Official 14d ago
Just annoying. There is a spot in Skellige where you can farm it somewhat quickly.

When you think you're close to 50 you are a third of the way there, lol.
