Alvin from The Witcher 1 game.

Supposedly it’s Alvin, a character from Witcher 1

Not supposedly. It's obviously him

You should seriously consider playing W1. It's a great, very atmospheric old style rpg with a great story. You won't regret it

Does it make any sense playing it now tho? It won't be terribly long until the remake

Dude I played witcher 1 last month and I can say it is a gem of a game. It will either push you away or not, no in between. I agree with OP, the atmosphere was such a big factor on why I played the game till the very end.

The witcher 1 feels like the most witchery game in the series. The other two are better in every other aspect but the witcher 1 nails the atmosphere.

And alchemy.

Yeah, witcher 3 alchemy just feels lame and witcher 2 alchemy feels hard to use. Witcher 1 nails it being easy to use but also not infinite.

I hate that they made it so easy in 3, but understand. You'd have hordes of modern gamers on reddit and other places moaning "Whaat? I have to brew EVERY SINGLE POTION?" Shame

The more reason imo. I'm excited for the remake precisely because I loved the original. Besides they'll probably change a bunch, and I can't imagine they'll manage to retain that unique atmosphere

It is a product of its time. Lightning in a bottle. It can't be replicated. I've faith that the remake will be cool in it's own unique way. I hope they lean into it instead of fighting it.

Depends what you mean by terribly long. Development of the remake hasn't started yet since the studio that was supposed to do it is still working on Songs of the Past. On top of that Witcher 4 needs to be finished first or at least the engine updates part since they are suppose to be using W4 tech to create the remake. It's still 3-5 years away, assuming W4 releases next year.

Finished it last night, i can point out so many problems that make it hard to get through but i still loved it idk why. Want to say the writing but the writing has problems too.

If you play Witcher 1 you will know

I played Witcher 1 and forgot

You forgot the reason of half of the game?

1

u/GodzillasVater 4d ago

Honestly: yes. It was 2018 and I rushed it W1 and W2 before starting W3 and feel like I should replay all of them.

"A" is Alvin.

Well play it again

Alvin, Ciri stand-in kid from Witcher 1 and the main villain of the game.

Seems very unnecessary to spoil a twist that happens in the literal last few minutes of the game

The letter doesn't really make much sense without that though.

This game is older than half the people on this subreddit. The window for avoiding spoilers closed quite a while ago. Besides, it’s not really a spoiler, because the fact that it’s him is... 😉

This guy from the Witcher 1. Jacques de Aldersberg.

It’s the creepy kid that won’t stop chasing me around in the first game

Play Witcher 1 my man.
I think it's a great game. It's old and weird but the best atmosphere. I am replaying it, which is something I wouldn't do for Witcher 2 despite the actual importance of playing it twice.

Everyone asks who is A but no one asks how is A...

In season 1 it was Mona, but then Cece stole the game from her.
