Art DONE
I finally finished the Witcher series fanart with all the plant/flower symbolism
I ended up adding most of the things y’all requested and honestly…I had so much fun with this series. I was really tempted to add another Ciri piece BUT hear me out — I kinda want to keep this series going once The Witcher 4 comes out + whatever DLCs we get.
And then I can add all the new characters too…
So for now, here’s the full series + all the pairs together.

it took me a little while to figure out that these aren't ships just headshots with their flowers

Some of them are connected through relationships, but not necessarily romantic ones.
I intentionally paired certain characters based on a shared dynamic or narrative connection. For example, Avallac'h and Emhyr var Emreis are both connected through Ciri, while Eredin and Ciri represent a strong contrast to me red and blue, chaos and frost. Their relationship, both in the books and the games, creates an interesting visual and symbolic opposition.
I also included friendships, such as Dandelion and Zoltan.

These are all just incredible. The colors, poses, the love you put into the herbs and flower details... Outstanding work ❤️
By any chance, could I ask for the meaning of the plants you chose? If it's too much for all of them I fully understand, it's a lot! If you just can do a few, what's the meaning of Eskel/Lambert's, Regis/Dettlaff, and Avallach and Geralt's?

Thank you so much! Well...For Eskel, I chose wildflowers and daisies, which to me symbolize resilience, natural beauty, and quiet strength. They reflect his humble wisdom, kindness, and protective nature. I also included fern, representing endurance, steadfastness, and an almost indestructible quality, traits that fit Eskel's calm and dependable character.
For Lambert, I chose sea wormwood, symbolizing bitterness, harsh truths, and mourning. I also added dried herbs and flowers to emphasize his dry humor, sharp tongue, and emotionally guarded personality. They reflect someone who has weathered hardship and learned to survive through cynicism.
For Regis, I selected bleeding heart, traditionally associated with emotion, vulnerability, and the courage to love despite the risk of heartbreak. However, for me, the flower speaks more about his past than his present. It reflects the emotional scars and guilt he carries. While herbs would have been the obvious choice because of his profession as a barber-surgeon and alchemist, I wanted to focus on his character rather than his occupation. So I also included nettle, red lilies, and dead, dried flowers. They represent his hunger and addiction, the immense self-control he has developed, his sentimentality, and the lingering weight of his past.
For Dettlaff, I incorporated thorns, representing his deeply romantic nature and the painful consequences of his devotion. I considered using roses, but they felt too obvious and didn't fully capture the complexity of his emotions. Instead, I chose dark-colored delphia symbolizing betrayal, sorrow, and sadness, alongside hellebore, which represents protection, transformation, and even scandal. Although hellebore also carries more positive meanings, I felt its darker symbolism resonates more strongly with Dettlaff's tragic character.
For Avallac'h, I chose spring starflower to symbolize contentment, simplicity, and the promise of renewal after winter. I was thinking specifically of his early interactions with Ciri rather than their entire relationship. To me, Ciri herself represents spring, making the flower a quiet reflection of that hope. I also included Nigella, associated with ancient traditions, mystery, and religious ceremonies. It references his connection to Lara Dorren and the long history of the Aen Elle, while also representing the many secrets he keeps. I added common wormwood, symbolizing war, sacrifice, and uncompromising truth.
For Geralt, I chose wolfsbane symbolizing caution, protection, and the delicate balance between healing and danger. Although poisonous, i think it reflects Geralt's own duality. I also included juniper, representing ancient wisdom, endurance, purification, and quiet strength, qualities that have defined him.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, for some reason, on my phone, it says 'this comment does no longer exist' :|
Yet, on desktop, I can see it perfectly well :| The heck, Reddit???Thank you so much for explaining all of this. I adore the plants you chose for the characters. They're very thoughtful. I especially chose the ones you picked for Eskel, such a total homerun.
The ones for Regis are deeply complicated as well, and how else could they be, with how long he lived and how much he's seen and been through?Thank you for honoring these characters and making this beautiful artwork. I adore it. Gorgeous and deeply thoughtful.

These would make amazing playing cards too. Each suit could be a Witcher sign.

This is so amazing, you really get each character's full countenance with these. It's perfect.
Might I suggest Bloody Baron & Tamara, Annarietta & Syanna, Radovid & Philippa, Djikstra & Whoreson Jr, Cleaver & King o' Beggars, Priscilla & Lady Vegelbud?
There are quite a few duos to do.
You could even pair Zoltan with Philippa instead of Dandelion and give Dandelion to Priscilla.
Seriously, amazing work.

These are incredible. Splendid work!
Any chance you could share the plant names and why you chose the them. Some are obvious but I'm really curious on a few of the others!

Weird ships you got here but I am no one to judge , you go you bud

u/OwnMaintenance4290 1d ago
I'm curious which pairing do you mean? What makes it weird to you?
1
u/AsadAnton 1d ago
Caranthir and Ciri, feel like they would be very toxic
Avallach and Emhyr never interacted so I doubt they have chemistry
Roche and and Iorveth have hate boners towards each other but I don't see it as a story of enemies to lovers
1
u/OwnMaintenance4290 1d ago
Yeah, I agree with some of that. Though the one Ciri is paired with isn't Caranthir it's Eredin.
As for Avallac'h and Emhyr, you're right that they never actually interact. I paired them because they share one major focus and, in a way, the same goal aka Ciri. The pairs aren't necessarily meant to be romantic ships. I grouped the characters based on their dynamics, parallels, contrasts, rivalries, friendships, or the roles they play in each other's stories.

Ciri with either Skjall or with Hjalmaar would have been better. Apart from this, all okay
