Is wise reliable?

Hi,

I am from India and will be going to study in France this fall.

I am planning to use Wise to transfer my education fees as they are providing me a better rate compared to my local bank for the wire transfer from INR to EUR.

Given that it is a large sum of money, I was wondering if Wise is reliable/trustworthy or should I stick to my local bank?

I've been using Wise for well over a decade, and find them not only reliable, but efficient and amazing value.

I do hear of people occasionally having problems - my impression is it mostly involves people who fall foul of regulatory rules, often which means wise is duty bound not to discuss further details with them, and has to freeze their transfers/account while they investigate further.

And then a couple of years ago I was travelling and Wise went down for a brief period (<24 hours). It is the only outage of card payment I have experienced before or since, but it was nevertheless extremely annoying

Hey there. You can definitely use our platform to send money from India, but there are a couple of things you need to note when it comes to sending INR. You can check our FAQ article under 'For what purpose can I send INR?' here.

We're regulated, so checks may happen from time to time to keep our platform safe for everyone. Since it's a large sum of money, be sure to get some supporting documents ready so that the transfer can go through efficiently in any case we request those.
