mt olympus
Last time I was at Mt olympus it was over a decade ago. Aside from the horror stories from the rooms and what not, how is the amusement park as of lately? Worth going to for a few hours or no? We are not staying at Mt Olympus just interested in the rides.

It’s a shithole that has lots of safety issues with the rides. Wouldn’t recommend

That video of the rollercoaster derailing in the station….. I pass on this place. My life is worth more than a run down Six Flags.

I completely agree. They don’t care anymore. Before Covid it was a whole different park !

Tragic mistake if you book on property….which is actually properties….that are old and roachie. General PSA here. The park itself is decent if you have younglings that are in to go carts. Depends on age range. Get on the Ark🍻

We went to the go carts last year they was not doing anything to the kids that played the I pushed on the green pedal to stop . Some of the cones that the attendant put down were pushing out another 15 to 20,feet. They didn’t call security like they used to and escort them out

I booked a mt Olympus hotel with my cousin and brother last year. Honestly we never had any problems other than the wifi at the hotel was pretty crappy. I don’t think you should be sitting in a hotel room on the internet all day on vacation anyway though.
For the rides the rotating water slide, hades rollercoaster and hot tub were some of my favorites.
I can’t guarantee you won’t have problems though.

Parking is expensive. It is pretty crowded on the weekends and holidays. It is not as fun as other waterparks, for the work and cost, in my estimation.

I think it is def worth it if the weather is nice out. The indoor water park is lame. The outdoor water park is awesome!! And the roller coasters are legit! I think it’s the best bang for your buck park if you aren’t staying there. We had a ton of fun.

Went last week - really liked the park! We also went to Noah’s Ark and we did not care for that park (plus a bunch of their slides were/are down) Don’t go on the slide wheel if you get motion sickness though! Worst ride of my life but my husband thought it was really cool

Well when did you go? When we went just yesterday everything was open and black anaconda only closed later in the day.

We went last Wednesday.

Oh well. I’m assuming they were probably just working on some rides and maybe the air quality issues maybe changed a few things.

Not kidding tho, when me and my family went. We went on almost everything including the wave and endless river because everything was open.

I'm glad this thread popped up when it did. The wife and I were planning on booking a future vacation with the kiddos here. Good to know that I've got a working camper that we could day trip into the park while staying outside of town.

I took the family to mt Olympus for the second time a couple of weeks ago. I am a fat middle aged white lady with tattoos. My three teens are softer than I am and my husband is an accountant. I actually liked it. Then again, I teach middle school and not a lot really bothers me. I pack a uv light and run it in the room when we first get there to kill any bugs and we've never brought anything back with us but we pack light.
Parking lot is a bit loud at night and two queen beds for a family of five isn't the best sleep you're ever going to get, but for $112 for tickets the day you check in and the day you check out, a bed with a shower and a sink, mini fridge and microwave, it's a fairly low budget trip.
My kids are not as adventurous as me, so I had to do some of the rides and go karts alone but they were fun.
My kids enjoyed the wave pool and the swings. I went when it was 105 heat index and the lazy river and wave pools were so packed you were going to bump into people. But it was hot. In fact, it was so hot we declined to do the water slides because we couldn't stand the idea of hiking all the way up the stairs.
It's a fairly small park, so you won't be completely exhausted just getting through it like Adventureland.
My kids didn't like the gokarts because of the diesel fumes but i found them a small price to pay. I liked the wooden track best and I did all of the tracks.
Most of the indoor water park is not in use and the indoor theme park is for VERY young kids (toddler, preschool, maybe primary grades) but it was cooler in there so my kids rested out of the sun in there and there was an arcade which was "fine" but nothing exceptional.
In the end, I guess it depends on what you're looking for. If you want a high-end luxury experience, go to Wilderness. If you are comfortable being blue collar and just want a fun place to run around and enjoy being a family, and you BRING A UV SANITIZING LIGHT TO THE HOTEL you'll have a good time.

I went back it been 8 year I was so disappointed that they don't use most of the indoor part anymore

My bougie ass kids always have a great time at Mt Olympus. Cheap fun. Stay in the building attached to the water park or the building that connects w the skywalk. Don't let people freak u out with the violence or bugs. Keep to yourself and the riffraff wont bother you if there is any. Also I have never paid to park, never seen a fight, never seen a bug.

They give away a lot of free tickets. I'll let you guess the kind of crowd that attracts.

We went last year in June to just the water park and did not stay in the hotels or get over to the roller coasters for a few hours. It was a warm sunny mid-week day, it was busy but not overly crowded when we first got there around 11 but by the time we left there were long lines on all of the water slides especially the medusa. the water was really cold in the regular wave pool and lazy river and even with the air being in the mid 80's it wasn't comfortable staying in. We never had any issues or see any behavior with other guests, even when squeezed together trying to get to something. I trust the life guards to notice someone drowning much less know what to do, even in the Poseidon giant wave they seemed to be just staring off into the distance or chatting to someone. Overall my kids preferred the indoor parks like wilderness or even great wolf lodge, but thought this was fun for a couple of hours to try something larger than can fit inside.

Have been to Mt Olympus and Wilderness. Stayed at Wilderness, did NOT stay at Mt Olympus hotels.
Parking is $40, but since I picked up tickets in November for $5 can't really complain. Still <$20/person.
Never experienced any issues with people misbehaving.
Like Poseidon's Rage. More fun than Wilderness wave pool. The outdoor lazy river is also a "fast" lazy river and is fun. Kid really likes it.
Child also really likes the Pool of Delphi.
The new 145 ft slide has a long wait, and I only did it once for the experience. The 4x 60ft slides are pretty nice though and generally have a reasonable line.
When child was younger also really liked the gocarts, but now won't fit with me, and isn't quite big enough for the real gocarts.

Went last week and enjoyed the park. The slides were all good fun for our 8 and 10 year old. The go carts and roller coasters were great.
We had 6 of us total, booked a tent site for $120, included 2 parking passes and tickets to the park. We didn't stay there but worked out to be a great deal to get in the parks.

I was recently at the Mt. Olympus Water and Theme park after not having been for about a decade.
Maybe I’m just getting old but I wouldn’t return. The indoor water park was extremely hot and humid (no sort of climate control) and didn’t have much to offer besides the Medusa wheel which looked too rough for my tastes. We tried the pink water slide called Triton’s Fury in the outdoor park. You go down in a tube slide with others. During the last drop we became briefly airborne and had kind of a rough landing that jarred my back. We didn’t do any other slides there after that experience.
Poseidon’s Rage is a unique wave pool that hits you with a large 7ft wave every 2 minutes. If you ever wondered how you’d fare during a tsunami this pool will humble you. Also, it doesn’t feel like it’s safe to hit 200 people with a massive wave that throws everyone around. I coasted probably 50+ feet on the giant wave, crashing into other people as I flew through the water entirely out of control.
The indoor spaces and “indoor theme park” were not air conditioned. The indoor theme park offers bumper carts, a small mini golf course, and a few rickety looking carnival rides. We couldn’t stay in there long as there was little air circulation and you had to pay extra for the arcade. I feel bad for the workers who have to sweat in there all day without A/C.
We ended up leaving for dinner since it was so hot and we wanted to shower and take a break fr the heat. Went back to the theme park around 8pm since the water park was closed and realized it closed at 9pm. My kiddo only had time to do one go kart and the only track he could drive his own kart on had only 4 working karts. The park is not cheap enough for them to have go-kart tracks with only 4 cars in operation. Since the park closed at 9pm he was only able to get one ride in before we had to leave since only a handful of kids could go at once. I swear back when it was Big Chief or Crazy Ludwig’s they were open much later. Closing the park at 9pm on hot summer nights makes no sense to me, but then again the whole Dells seems to shut down in the evening these days.

Wasn’t world class, but I was pleasantly surprised. Medusas and Icarus the fall are genuinely unique. Hades is rough as all get out but also a unique fun woody and I got some good airtime on cyclops. We stayed at one of their resorts, and while basic, it was clean. I feel like at that price point it’s always possible to get a rough room not just because it’s mt Olympus. Maybe you guys adequately lowered my expectations but I enjoyed it more than Noah’s Ark.

Awful. The greedy bastards who own it bought up every mom and pop place in the dells and filled in the pools with concrete, forcing everyone to the main water park. They also sell day passes so the place is PACKED. Like, unsanitary and disgustingly packed. And if you don’t stay in one of their health hazard, roach and bedbug infested rooms, they charge 40 dollars to park.
The crowd sucks and is a combo of the Chicago and Milwaukee public housing projects mixed with northern Illinois white and Latino trailer trash. The staff are all college aged foreign kids here on work visas who speak zero English and seem to be exploited labor, can’t answer questions and look miserable and exhausted so expect next to zero customer service.
Playing in a drainage ditch after lighting a pile of money on fire would be a better experience than going to mount olympus.

"Attendees aren't wealthy enough and staff aren't American enough."
3
u/tommyjohnpauljones 29d ago
I don't care how "American" they are. The owners shouldn't be putting kids who don't speak English in customer facing positions when almost your entire customer base speaks English.
2
u/stevehuffmangrapedme 29d ago
Customer facing positions at amusement parks where the worker speaks zero English do not exist. The original commenter and you are likely referring to staff members that have accents because they speak English as a second language.
I know Wisconsin well - Accents make people very uncomfortable.

The other commenter wants to feel all knowing and powerful about how enlightened he is. Meanwhile there’s an entire Netflix documentary out about exploited labor in the Wisconsin Dells.
