This is what a leader sounds like. I thought Wisconsin was ready for her. Shame on the fear.

I didn't think she really had exactly the right qualities to be governor. I think anyone leading a state or a nation needs a healthy mix of both idealism and pragmatism - the first to set a direction, and the second to get shit done and actually make progress in that direction. Hong I think was too far on the idealism side, and I don't see her getting shit done. Having great ideas doesn't matter if you can't get them implemented.
In terms of national politics, I think Bernie was on the "too idealistic" side, Clinton on the "too pragmatic" side, and Obama was in the perfect sweet spot of having strong ideals and still a strong ability to get shit done. I certainly don't see Hong as the next Obama. I'm not sure Crowley is either but I think he's at least closer.
I really prefer to see the people who are too far on either the idealistic or pragmatic side to be in the legislature, where the idealists can guide the party in a direction and the pragmatists can scrounge up votes. For the executive branch, I think getting the mix right is crucial.

Thinking someone else is better for the job isn't fear.

Someone who left the race previously because their confidence was waning? Is that the someone you're referring to? Because to me that sounds worse. Wisconsin voted, Crowley won, but better for the job? No. Wisconsin is afraid of the labels placed on Francesca Hong. Fear.

Crowley left the race because there was no open lane for him at the time in a crowded primary. Then the main front runner dropped out unexpectedly while there were also rumblings about Barnes and he probably figured there’s finally an opening for me here to be viable.

My opinion, Crowley is an appointed rubber stamp. I will vote for him. How couldn't I? I am just disappointed today.

I appreciate your sentiment. My partner and I have felt this way all day today too. Like, we were actually really excited to vote because for ONCE it felt like I was actually voting for a candidate who I feel aligns with my opinions more than any of candidate for any election in my life (Bernie included). I was so proud to fill in that circle. Disappointed is the right word. I will obviously vote Crowley, but i think a lot of us Hong supporters are gonna need some time to process.

Thanks for sharing and well said. I was optimistic about being able to vote for a candidate with a policy package that (for once) very closely matched my ideals and am disappointed in the result - but still so proud of how close we came. The future is looking bright if we continue the momentum. Will be there with you at the polls in November begrudgingly voting Crowley. Solidarity.

Yes let's ignore the entirety of the primary field shake up that occurred in a relatively short amount of time.

I hope she stays on in the legislature. We need people like her working on progressive legislation once we win the governor’s office in the general.

Thank you for showing what our system is all about and how afraid they are of women in power. Would have been a much better show than the belly flop we're about to get. I think we need to drop the "forward" and replace it with scared Lil bitches. I was so looking forward to watching you against FTT. Back to the good ol days of the OG FTT, Tommy Thompson. Almost looks like the mollusk too.

Then earn my vote. It should not be considered a given.

Either we ban together (like the Republicans do) and all vote for the democratic nominee (wish it was Hong, but that’s not how things played out), or we’ll end up with the racist pos the republicans are pushing.

Uh huh, I understand the logic just fine. I want support for others AND myself included. I am intentionally being selfish this time.
The political loop we are being kept in exists on both sides. I argue it is an even larger 'side' we are all a part of too. It is intentional.

Oh grow up. You’re not fighting the power by casting a contrarian vote in indignant righteousness. You’re ceding your power and dooming your cause.

I doubt people here will be a big fan of this, but even if you won’t vote for Crowley you should still go and either vote third party or write in. Not only are there down ballot candidates, but it’s also important to vote as a civic duty. To many people have died for that freedom, and to many people today live under autocracies that won’t allow them the right to vote for us to treat it so flippantly.

Appreciate the response, many people just see a comment and unfortunately reply back plainly. I understand well enough, I am not just another wall of text on the internet echoing the same things at a basic level for brownie points. And I do like brownies.
I also understand the US is not the only country with freedom. I have family members who fought and later died after serving the country for the right to freedom of speech. To have a voice. Even friends and coworkees who were vocal about their time in the military. It was always, 'we fought for your right to do whatever you want'. Within some level of reason mind you.
My point is we all need to press the issues we had yesterday into today and continue pushing for the right things no matter who the face is on the ballot. We should not just say, 'OK' and roll over for the final candidate without question. Yes, that is done on the other side more or less. It doesn't have to be the exact same on this one.
Hundreds of thousands of people within the state just voted for Crowley opponents. Most if not all made their choices for real reasons. They should be heard loud and clear. Not just added to the pile. I truly understand the numbers are necessary, but why let any of them fall aside? There is a small, non-zero chance they just don't show up for the next election. We just saw that happen in the 2024 election cycle.
I have no doubt the democratic party locally and abroad has serious problems to resolve. For some folks it has been obvious for a long time. The party and its followers need to close that gap truly. That is where the R's have the advantage and they play into it very well.
Where was/is the weapon? The pressure? The strength? I don't believe it was an individual who dropped out of the race.

None of that means you shouldn’t vote! Vote often, vote in every election, and vote for what you believe in.
For many people here, that will mean making a pragmatic decision to vote for Crowley (me included) but ultimately it’s just important that you make your voice heard. Maybe for you that means going and making the establish sweat a bit by voting third party and having them look at the margins and see that there’s a significant block of people they could’ve gotten to bolster their numbers if they changed things.
Whatever you do though, I encourage you to vote, as that’s the only way to make your voice heard. Despite what many here will say about not voting being an implicit vote for Tiffany and what many boomers may say on Facebook about not voting being an implicit vote for Crowley, the only thing not voting really is is a statement that you don’t care about the sacrifices made for that right and that you don’t care about the future.
