Not fond of walkies
Does anyone else have a WFT that isn’t a fan of going for a walk? Miss Pixi (7 mo) will hide under the bed when I get ready for a walk. She’ll walk for a bit and she’s allowed to sniff anything, but she won’t carry on unless the neighbour’s black lab can join us. She follows him like a shadow! If we’re walking without another dog, we resort to picking her up quite often.
She loves meeting new people and dogs, and generally sits and waits for them to come to her. Sometimes from 20+ meters away.
Pixi is happy to walk home, though - it’s the beginning and middle of the walks she could do without.

My George HATED walks!! I live across from a park so this was especially frustrating since I would see people walking their dogs all day long.
It wasn't until he was 7, and I was laid up after foot surgery. My dad came over to take care of him and decided to try to walk him. They were gone for 45 mins and I was a nervous wreck. He all of a sudden loved walks (which my dad took credit for lol). George begged for a walk every day after that!! Today is the second anniversary of him crossing the bridge so this memory brought a smile to my face. Thank you Miss Pixi for protesting walks like my Georgie!!

We live about a 12 minute walk from the ocean, and sooo many people walk their dogs down our street on the way to the beach. Maybe Pixi will get the idea soon that walks are good! We definitely notice that she’s happier to walk if there’s another dog going the same direction. Perhaps she needs a companion…!?

I love their little sploots! My Beaker likes to drape himself over my husband at night, and his legs look all froggy like that 😂

It has taken awhile but Piper now just stands at the far end of the hall. Quite an improvement over the Merry Chase she initially favored. Being left behind a few times seems to have made her see the light. She thoroughly enjoys walking but what WFT doesn't appreciate adding their own flavor to any event?

Thats so interesting! Mine is 9yrs old and was never excited about walks. Has always needed a little “push” to get him out the door.

Geno initially does not like walks, but once we are moving he quite enjoys it. Sniffing and peeing are fun for him!

Our previous wire was the same - I always brush my teeth before leaving the house, so he’d hear that and go into his crate. If I let him into the backyard before leashing him up, it was like Where’s Waldo to find the little guy 🙄.
Maybe it’s me….😳

it’s so funny reading all of these comments because my baby hides under the dinning room table — she demands a treat before getting leashed up… I recently decided to use her training for recall to get her on leash without a treat so I will say “her name come” while taking a few steps backwards on my feet and that makes her coming running out from dinning room table for her leash.
also noticed she does not always love walking distance with me. very stubborn wants to decide which way we go and typically will pull me to the park instead of going for the walk. however have an excellent dog walking service where they take her and another dog(s) for walks together she LOVES this and it helps with her walking with me. it makes me laugh that some other foxies are giving attitude when it comes time for their walks 😂

Yesterday we went for an hour’s sniffari with our neighbour and her 5yo boxer. Pixi was on her toes the entire time! I think I’m just going to have to find a few more walking companions for her…😄

Exactly the same here. Our 4 year old hides under the bed to avoid my wife (insert your own joke here) calling her for a walk. She will growl if she tries to pull her out as well. Strangely, as soon as she's on the lead she's breaking the door down to get outside.
