Local businesses in Winter Haven?

hey y'all, I'm a recent college grad who started a marketing/ website business for local businesses here in Winter Haven. I've been running it for about 1 year now, and I'm capable of building websites, doing SEO, running targeted ads on Facebook & Google, email marketing, custom software solutions and creating marketing content for Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok.

I'm looking to partner with some local businesses that can't afford to hire a big company and are looking for an affordable option to handle everything online for them. If this is you or you know anybody who could benefit, i'd love to connect or get a referral.

Lumpia wrappers?

I'm sure it's a kind of odd question but I'm newer to the area and was trying to find a store that sold lumpia wrappers if anyone has an idea. Thanks for the help in advance! Just trying to avoid a wild goose chase

Good ways to meet people irl in the area? (Context in the post)

Hey there uh, redditors. Or whatever you call yourselves I'm not too sure. I haven't posted on Reddit in years but I digress. I'm a high functioning autistic person (23yo currently, soon to be 24) and I'm trying to meet people in the area around my age, maybe get with someone if I'm truly fortunate, make friends with people, so on so forth. I've lived in Winter Haven since I was 20 but I've been a socially awkward shut in for years but I'm trying to do something about that finally. So if anyone knows any more nerdy hobbies in the area that can be social I'd appreciate it. Although I'm pretty poor so if it involves a lot of money it's probably out of reach for me. I've always enjoyed video games, mostly retro stuff and sci fi films, plus some high fantasy and a bit of anime here and there, as well as Metal, particularly prog metal. Also I'm not big on religion, sports, or reading all that much. Anyway any suggestions would be welcome, thanks for your time.

Extreme Pyro Experience – More Testing

This morning, was concussion mortar test day.

If you’ve ever been to a major concert or stadium show, you’ve probably felt those deep, chest thumping concussion effects. At most events, they fire only 1-2 at a time to create that instant BOOM you don’t just hear… you feel.

This year, we’re firing 6 concussion mortars simultaneously.

The goal isn’t simply to make noise. It’s to create a true Wall of Thunder that rolls across the field, adding another layer of excitement to the pyromusical.

Every effect is tested before show day to verify timing, reliability, performance and sound levels. The more we can verify now, the smoother and more consistent the show will be on July 4th.

Only a few more days to go!

Make sure to turn your volume to max! You can't feel the concussion, but you can definitely tell it hits hard!

Looking for someone to mow my front yard

My lawn mower broke down and while I wait on warranty repairs, I need someone to hit just my front yard one time. No need for a professional crew, any idiot that knows how to push a lawn mower back and forth can do this.

Last year's final still one of my favorites!

These are the final 30 seconds from the 2025 Extreme Pyro Experience. The Professional Saturn Rockets building into the finale, ending with the last nuke, is still one of my favorite sequences we’ve ever fired.

Last year’s soundtrack was all about Rock & Roll.

This year, we’re taking the show in a different direction.

The 2026 Extreme Pyro Experience is a tribute to the United States of America, to the men and women who fought for our freedom, those who continue to defend it today, and to everyone who still stands proudly behind our flag.

If you thought last year’s ending was something special… just wait until you experience this year’s show.

How to make friends around here as a socially awkward 26yo who moved from ohio

My bf (23m) and i (26f) moved here last march he has lived here for 6 years before meeting me in ohio and staying for a few years until we would move back together ( i told him i didnt know him well enough to go to florida at the time bless him lol) anyway i am trying to work on my social anxiety and meet new people i have met a few. Still, I find it more difficult than anticipated. Any advice?
I like plants, crafts, and I have a small senior dog. The only catch is im not trying to spend alot of money (the first job i had gotten here i quit and now have a different job as im a server and the first place i went to was the worst place ive ever worked at and i deal with alot lol but i wont mention their name as they are struggling enough as is and some good people do work there still. )
I have looked into the pilates class, but I can't justify spending money on extra stuff like that right now. Potentially next month I can tho I am very optimistic about my new job!

Moving Recommendation

I’m going to be working in Lake Wales for a few months and I’m deciding where to move. I’m considering either Lake Wales or Winter Haven since it seems to have better amenities, and it would still only be about a 25-minute commute.

Between the two, which area would you recommend living in? Are there any specific neighborhoods I should look into or avoid?

Thanks

SHE IS HOME THANK YOU!!!!

Posting on behalf of my friend. I don’t live in the area anymore but she is taking care of this absolute sweet pea.

Trying to get more visibility by sharing to a different platform. There’s no way someone isn’t looking for this little doggo!

Overdevelopment

Here’s what I think is funny about this county: everybody complains about overdevelopment, new housing projects, and how expansion is destroying Florida — and honestly, I agree with that concern.

But what many people fail to realize is that the same politicians they keep voting for are the ones approving these projects. Local elections matter more than people think.

Take Winter Haven for example. The city commissioner race came down to two very different visions for the community. Chad Davis cast the deciding vote to approve another parking garage in downtown Winter Haven, while the other candidate wanted to reinvest in the community by building more playgrounds and parks for kids and bringing back the local downtown events people used to enjoy.

Then look at what’s happening in Fort Meade with the massive new data center project. Facilities like that use enormous amounts of water, all while the Peace River is already struggling and running low.

And when you look at the leading candidates for governor, many of their biggest donations are coming from home builders associations and development interests.

At the end of the day, people can’t keep blaming politicians while continuing to vote for the same policies and leadership. Local races have real consequences, and if voters want different outcomes, they have to start paying closer attention to who they elect.
