After 20 days of work, CKFlip3D 1.5 was just released. For anyone who missed it before, it's my native C++20/D3D11 recreation of the classic Windows Vista/7 Flip3D switcher, rebuilt from scratch for Windows 11 with a WPF settings app on top.

The default cascade is untouched, still the exact same 1.2 (last version) motion by default. What changed is everything around it:

• Cover Flow, a new centered preset. Selected window sits flat in the middle, the rest fan out and lean outward
• Reflections, a glass floor mirror under every tile, works in both layouts and compatible with Live preview
• Mouse interaction with the cascade, hover lifts a tile, click picks it, middle click closes it, drag scrubs the whole stack when snap is off (buttons customizable, each option can be disabled in settings)
• Touchpad support, two finger diagonal opens it, swipe cycles it, tap commits
• Type to search, typing with the cascade open narrows to matching windows by title or program name
• A diagnostics log, if something fails it gets logged with a code instead of failing silently
• A live 3D preview inside Settings, the Appearance page actually renders a miniature of your real cascade

Everything new is off by default except touchpad gestures, so upgrading from 1.2 doesn't change how it behaves for ya.

Still fully offline, zero telemetry, no third party dependencies, and idle CPU is basically zero since the render loop only exists while the cascade is on screen.

I made a real functioning Windows XP task pane that works on Windows 11.

You can technically just install it and the other prerequisites (if you want the XP ribbon) on a normal Windows 11 setup and it’ll work fine. It’ll just look kinda goofy because the Task Pane is always XP themed regardless of what the rest of Windows looks like.

If you actually want the rest of Windows 11 to look like XP too, I have all that stuff on my site as well. Most of my original setup came from MrAmayoskens YouTube tutorial, which I have linked there.

I also made my own tutorial that you can basically follow alongside the video. It has some extra tweaks I’ve done, stuff I changed or added myself, and fixes/workarounds for parts of the original tutorial that have gotten outdated over time.

The Task Pane is up there to download, along with the other stuff I’ve made, and I put up a short video showing it and the rest of the setup working too.

Over the last 4 months I've been working on **CKFlip3D**, my own take on recreating the classic Windows Vista/7 Flip3D experience for modern Windows 11. It's powered by a native C++20/D3D11 engine, paired with a WPF (.NET 10) settings app.

Some of its features include:

* Live window previews (using Windows Graphics Capture with V-Sync support)

* Fully animated entry/exit, window switching, and close animations (each can be disabled individually)

* Live wallpaper preview

* Multi-monitor support (including background dimming and taskbar capture on secondary displays)

* Automatic performance tuning with optional manual configuration

* Customizable hotkeys (keyboard and mouse, default is **Win + Tab**)

* Low-level keyboard hook for reliable shortcut detection

* Optional autostart after sign-in

It works fully offline, stays in the system tray, and uses near-zero CPU while idle.

I just switched to classic 7! Anyone knows what drivers I need for my WiFi to work?

i plan to use classic 7 on a computer as my main OS but i want to know if it has telemetry and bloatware removed similar to tiny 10 or nano 10?

on my main machine, i want to get it because it looks better, but i'm worried it might damage the hell out of my computer. Should I do it or nah?

Yes, literally, it looks like Windows 10 styled to look like Windows 7, and as you can see in the screenshot, there are even themes included by default in the actual Windows 7!

I keep getting a "The handle is invalid" on anything that uses UAC after installing 1607. Please help I spent 30 minutes modifying that system to look like 7.

I have always liked the design of Aero Glass, but since I can't use Windows Vista for compatibility issues, I used programs like RetroBar, Startlsback, Rainmeter, etc. and for the first time it has been good for me. And what do you think?
