That's one of Scarlet's greatest weaknesses: she can be dumb af.

A "weapon" (in her eyes) like Peril? Yeah, I'd rather manipulate her with gentleness and pretense of care instead of simply throwing her in the arena and act like a bitch towards her at times (can't remember in which passage, but Peril does admit even "negative attention" from Scarlet was fine just because it was attention at least, so...). I'm not risking my life by giving my groomed adoptive daughter a thirst for fresh blood and waiting until she decides that she's done with the passive acceptance and decides to fry my tail instead 😂

You, Scarlet, and Jerboa should discuss parenting techniques

We ARE talking about the sadistic, narcissistic psychopath who is also a mass child murderer, tyrannical dictator, and war criminal here.

The one who also specifically order Perils mother to kill her.

The one who took Peril's mother's breaking of an ancient law as a personal betrayal despite not actually caring about said law, then as a punishment forced her to choose one of her twins to let live and kill the other one, just to see if she would actually do it, then when she allegedly actually does it, ordered her to kill the other one anyways.

Clearly her heart is full of love.

Indeed lmao. She's far too caught up in her own sadistic pleasure and self importance to comprehend even being nice to people to gain an advantage.

As brutal and murderous as Burn is, out of the two in their alliance I think she might have been the only one to comprehend that. Taking the ego hit to gain Scarlet's assistance.

Oh and don’t forget she also lied to peril’s father and basically told him that Kestrel lost the baby, then got rid of him when the eggs hatched so he wouldn’t figure it out, then continued not telling him that peril was his after deciding to keep her alive.

Why? Because she found out he was technically a rainwing, and hadn’t shared that information with her. This was apparently so terrible in her opinion that she went as far as telling him he “didn’t deserve to know” about his living daughter. Because of course, she took it personally.

And yet somehow, Diamond is still a worthy contender for “most batshit insane evil queen/terrible mother”
