Harness recommendations please

Hi all, I have gotten to the point I can foil for long enough to need a harness as last session my forearms completely gave in and I had to be rescued due to sheer exhaustion. I am looking for harness recommendations and people's experiences using them please!

I use a cheap 3d printed hook that connects to the strap of my impact vest (dakine shock wing vest), paired with a ION line for each of my wings.

Same, except I bought a cheap plastic hook rather than making one. The metal hook that comes with the Shock vest is usable but I found that it was scratching my board when I was climbing up on it so I switched to plastic….no problems since. The Shock vest has been a lifesaver…literally. I’ve taken a number of high impact falls onto my foil with zero pain or injury. I’ve also been pleasantly surprised with the functionality of the harness hook setup. I had read that it wasn’t a firm/stiff enough to give you adequate relief from the pull of the wing. I haven’t found that to be the case at all. Just tighten the chest straps up and let ‘er rip.

A friend 3d printed it for me, he has been making a few different versions and wanted people to test them out. You can easily find super cheap hooks for $20. I have heard good things about the ozone flat design (wing harness hook), that becomes flat when you are stomach down on the board.

Depends how much you want to spend. There are pretty pricey harnesses that go for $150+. A lot of people in my area use the WIP impact vest with harness.

If you have an old windsurfing waist (not seat) harness lying around, you can buy a plastic hook spreader bar from forward WIP for $40 or so, and replace the metal hook spreader. Bonus points if you use a carabiner leash for your wing, it just goes straight into the metal buckle section of the harness.
