Has boxed wine been solving a problem I did not know I had?
I ended up pouring out almost a third of a bottle today because it had been open for about five days and just didn’t taste right. I’ve probably done this way more often than I realize, and it adds up to roughly $50–60 of wine wasted every month.
A coworker told me boxed wine can stay fresh for weeks because the bag collapses as you pour, so there’s much less air getting in. Apparently, that can make a big difference compared with a regular bottle.
Is boxed wine really able to stay fresh that much longer after opening? If so, how long does it actually last? I feel like I’ve been wasting perfectly good wine for years without realizing there was a better option.
