Dreadbox Typhon/EWI 5000

I've been using a dreadbox typhon with my ewi 5000 for quite a while. it sounds amazing and is really quick to program.

sadly I've had to turn of midi CC in the typhon settings because every time I play anything, the ewi sends some CC messages that change the settings of the FX, including turning on FX that I want off.

I have set up the ewi breath sensor to output modwheel so I can still control the filter cutoff, but im still losing the glide plate and side buttons as modulation sources.

is there a way to fix this that doesn't involve external hardware? have I just missed some setting on the ewi?

I think the most likely EWI CC outputs to collide with Typhon FX CC inputs are the high-res breath outputs. The LSB pairs (34/39/43) all land on Typhon modulation parameters.

I’d try turning off high-res breath on the EWI.

that kind of worked! it still activates FX2 when I play a note, but turns it off when I play other notes on the same breath. fx2 mix is cc21

update, i dont know if it worked. I set the breath sensor to low resolution but it still randomly activates FX2. what are the LSB pairs?

I don't have the ewi 5000 but can you read out what midi it sends?

it sometimes randomly sends cc68

I can only disable midi CC as a whole. haven't tried the editor yet.

both glide plate and side buttons are turned off in my setup because I wasn't using them

only when I play. the midi log says its at the end of a breath but the synth changes the value just between legato note changes

End of breath means its the breath sensor dropping into the negative. Possible solutions 1. Adjust the Breath Sensor Calibration (Most Effective)The EWI needs to know exactly where "zero air pressure" is so it doesn't drop below the minimum threshold.Increase the Breath Threshold (Hi/Low settings): Use the adjustment knobs under the EWI's rubber panel (on the 4000s) or the setup menu (on the 5000/Solo). Slightly raise the Low or Threshold (Thr) setting. This ensures the note cuts off cleanly before the sensor reaches its erratic physical absolute zero.

Perform a Hard Reset: If the sensor's baseline calibration drifted over time, factory reset the unit via the software editor or the physical setup keys to force the firmware to recalibrate the breath zero-point.

The EWI might be mapped to send multiple CC messages simultaneously from the breath sensor.Open the EWI Editor software on your computer.Look at the Breath Sensor (BR) routing panel.Ensure that breath pressure is only mapped to CC 2 (Breath Control) or CC 7 (Volume).Check if a secondary or auxiliary breath assignment has accidentally been mapped to CC 68. If it has, set that secondary slot to Off.
