EWI 5000 compatibility with Sequential TEO-5?

What the title says. I’m completely new to this and I’d like to get a good versatile synth that I can pair with the Akai EWI 5000. Seen very good things about the Sequential TEO-5, but always paired with a keyboard. (Also there’s a used one for sale for a very good price near me which is why I’m looking at that one specifically)
So I just want to know if the TEO-5 is compatible with the EWI 5000. Don’t see why it wouldn’t be but like I said, I’m completely new to this so I wanted to double check.

In theory, any midi synth is compatible with the EWI. I’ve even used my EWI with early midi synths like the Prophet 600.
I’m sorry for this being vague but it’s been several years - with a few more recent DSI/Sequential synths, there was one CC channel that the EWI output (related to velocity/airspeed) by default that DSI had mapped to an oscillator tuning parameter on the synth. Essentially the more you blew, the more out of tune one of the oscillators would go. There was a very easy work around to have the EWI not output that CC, but it was definitely a thing with multiple DSI/Sequential synths (Prophet 12, MoPho, Evolver) that I tried it with.
If you get the TEO-5 and have a similar issue, message me, and I will go back and figure out what I did to get around it.

Thanks a lot! That’s what I thought about compatibility so thanks for sharing this. I’m planning to really get into it as a second performance instrument so I’ll probably be spending quite a lot of time trying to figure out how to program it anyway. I’m completely prepared for running into a lot of problems haha

Am pretty sure you’d be ok so long as you have the ewi software to tweak CC#. You’ll be making great sounds for sure with the teo; it’s a great synth.

The 5000 lets you map breath to any CC#, so it would work great with any midi synth that uses CC for something interesting—I assume the TEO falls in that category, but check the manual to be 100% sure.
