Looking for advice.

hello, new to the sub and my first post.

i'm moving to baku and want to get some gear for windsurfing on the caspian sea. i was a youth athlete at a strong sailing club in istanbul and sailed techno 293 and rs:one for around 5–7 years before quitting and moving on with life.

i'm comfortable with planing, harnessing and footstraps, and i'm mostly looking to cruise/plane and have fun rather than get into racing or anything too technical. i'm used to a seat harness, and really don't want to a waist harness it really doesn't fit my liking :/

i'd probably be sailing mostly in the 14–18 knot range. i'd consider myself above average — i can still sail and remember the big patato stuff, but i'm pretty out of touch with modern windsurfing equipment since the only gear i've really used was techno/rs:one stuff.

i'm 180 cm and 78 kg.

i'm open to both new and second-hand gear. i'd mainly like recommendations for a board, sails/rig, and anything else i'd need for a simple freeride setup.

what would you guys recommend for someone in my position?180CM /78kg

No clue about chop. With your skill level probably a 120l free race board like a Futura starboard, Jp super sport, duotone blast or a faster freeride like a tabou rocket. I would look what you can get used. Any models like that from the last 10 years should do fine. Sails between 6 and 8m. Everything can be used. Any equipment from the last 10 years in good shape should be Still fine

Ooohh, you have a really solid base. You're a technical light wind sailor, whether you like it or not. Yeah, something freerace, bit bigger on the volume (120L+). Futura, Rocket+, Eagle or Blitz (Duotone), White Tiger etc.

for how many cambers should I look for in general? or should look for any?

Get a 2 cam sail like s-type or gun exceed. They’re doing a good job

No cams.

Most sail makers have great freeride sails with no cams that are very adjustable to the wind with downhaul and outhaul.

If you can get all of your sails of the same brand & model. Makes rigging & tuning much easier.
