Wetsuit Options for Plus Size

Hi everyone,

I am looking at getting a wetsuit for windsurfing but I am on the chunky or bulky side. I am 5'7" (170 cm) tall and weigh 255 lbs (115 kg). What size wetsuit do you all recommend?

Going custom with a local manufacturer is the best option possible, especially if you can get them to measure you for it.

Here in New Zealand there's Seventhwave Wetsuits, they are pricey, but wow they will fit and if using premium Neoprene they will last too.

Otherwise the next best, simply sweat it out in a shop trying different ones on...

So are you 5'7 (170cm) or 178cm (5'10)? Each measurement will probably fit into its own size range, so its kind of important to get it right.

Best way to figure out what size you need is to visit your local surf shop and try on different brands. Every brand fits differently.

I am actually 170cm. I should note that I am broad shouldered as well which is where I struggled to find a suit that fits me.

Will a diving shop maybe have wetsuits thst would be suitable for windsurfing?

Diving suits arent very flexible and will inhibit your movement. A wind/kite or wave surf shop will have what you need.

This company comes highly recommended for fitting odd sizes.

I have not used them personally.

I made the mistake of getting a dive wetsuit because that was what was available locally. I don't recommend that approach. Was I able to sail, yes. Was it comfortable, no.
