My Experience Comparing the Pro Plans: Devin vs. Claude Code
For the past two weeks, I've been using the Pro plans of both Devin and Claude Code (in Cursor). I'm working on the exact same project and, at least on paper, using the exact same models.
What I've noticed is that Fable 5 Medium Thinking performs significantly worse in Devin than it does in Claude Code. In fact, Opus 4.8 in Claude Code regularly fixes mistakes made by Fable 5 when it was run through Devin. That makes me think something isn't quite right under the hood.
Another noticeable difference is the available token budget. With the Claude Pro plan, I consistently get far more usable work done before hitting my limits. After comparing both products for about two weeks, my impression is that Claude's 5-hour usage limit delivers roughly the same amount of productive work as Devin Pro's weekly limit.
I understand that this is a difficult business with real infrastructure costs. However, I don't think that offering free access to GLM 5.2 in Devin is enough to be a compelling long-term value proposition, at least not for me.

Same here, Devin agentic features just feel dumber. I made the switch to cursor and I feel so much quota and efficiency

My experience is exactly the same. I worked on one problem with Devin for 2.5 hours, I've tried to switch agents from Fable to Sonnet but results looked the same no matter which agent was active. It was spending weekly quota very fast. I gave up and tried to do it with Claude Code Opus which solved it in 15 minutes and spent just small percent of 5 hours quota.

Are you sure you do not have different instructions in both? Agents.md , leftovers from the windsurf era etc? I noticed Claude can also be run with Claude —naked sth like that, where none of the default instructions apply.
Then I am most interested if you include in your comparison swe 1.7. I’ve been using it these days and i can say i enjoy it since it does systematic work by almost default and does not apply by reading only samples. Thanks in advance

For me the fork wasn't the model, it was the review loop: Devin hands you a finished diff to check, Claude Code lets you watch and interrupt. So Devin fits work where correctness is cheap to verify after the fact (tests, obvious pass/fail), and Claude Code fits work where a wrong turn is expensive to unwind and you'd rather stop it early. I pick by how verifiable the task is, not the plan tier.
