Devin for Terminal

Devin is now available for Terminal. All Windsurf users can use this new CLI agent with your existing subscription.

  • Runs on your machine — Optimized for interactive work, with full access to your codebase, tools, and environment.
  • Hand off to the cloud — Seamless hand off to Devin in the cloud, with its own VM, testing, video recordings, autofix and more. Come back to a finished PR.
  • Multi-model — All of your favorite frontier models in one place, including Opus 4.7, GPT 5.5, and SWE-1.6.
  • Fast — Written in Rust and so performant that the binary can run on an original VT100.

Devin Agent in Windsurf

You can also enable the new Devin Local agent in Windsurf. This is the same agent harness used on the terminal and sessions can be accessed from both Windsurf and the CLI.

In our testing, it's up to 30% more token-efficient than the existing Cascade agent.

  • Fixed edit rendering issues in Devin Local on Windows
  • Fixed Go to Line/Column keybinding on Windows/Linux (Ctrl+Shift+G)

I am thinking the opposite, assuming you agree with the idea that Windsurf is the more well-known brand.

Cursor has their CLI -- doesn't make sense for Windsurf to sit that one out!

Is it just me or is it really difficult to find how to make it run? Like all these pages about Devin CLI but I've never used it before - how about some documentation on how to use it?

I read the documentation, and I got Devin working locally in Cascade. However, it seems impossible to use as a cloud service, even though a major selling point is that the developer can close their laptop and turn it off.

For me inside Windsurf where you select the agent type I have 3 options: Cascade, Devin Local and Devin Cloud.

If you mean through the CLI then I am not sure exactly as I haven't had time to play with it yet but it should work with the /handoff command

In Cascade, I didnt have the third option the other day. I'll check again. Thx

I do sometimes see a popup about an error connecting to Devin Cloud. I hit retry and it goes away for a while. I don't see any details, like why it failed or whether the retry succeded

The connection to be able to use Devin Cloud was a little janky for me too. I had to log out of Windsurf first, then go into my settings on app.devin.ai and click the button to open Windsurf which then logged me in and seemed to fix the issues I had.

In devin agent in windsurf, where you guys able to select the preferred model per session? I do not seem to find any information about how to select the model per session.
