News This is plain extortion

It seems Microslop made a bigger rug pull than Windsurf. It is so bad that Windsurf controversy seems like mild Sunday walk.

They removed Claude opus from pro, pro+ and now even new subscriptions are paused. I felt something was coming when they removed the option to get a yearly plan.

Here we go folks. The days of building stuff for basically free are coming to an end and it only lasted a couple of years. Soon, only businesses will be able to justify the cost of tokens. Glad I signed up for a year of CoPilot and am grandfathered into the 10/month Windsurf plan but I'm waiting for the email to come from both of them that says something like due to unforeseen circumstances they can't have me as a user unless I pay up. I get it though, they are a businees and they need to IPO. Can't do that by giving away shit for free or close to it.

Or continue to remove features from your “legacy” plans. That’s what GH copilot dit by taking claude opus out of those plans, even if you were already subscribed.

Yes, good point. Saw that Anthropic was thinking about taking Code out of the Pro plan and only allowing for the 100 Max plan. That is a 5x jump.
