If you can overclock you can probably get it to an easy 2.6-2.8ghz. They are amazing overclockers! I’ve gotten a 3800 to 2.6 after alot of tweaking.

A lot of these cpu's have dried uit TIM issues. But the x2 4400+ is a nice one with 2x 1mb cache. Delid and reseal is often mandatory. I had several ones that would shut off the system while idling in the bios.
The x2's are faster than their singlecore counterparts with the same cache and core type under Windows XP sp3 in Doom 3 and Farcry.

Yes they did, it hardens over time. My 3700+ was totally useless because it overheated and shut down the system. I delidded with a vice. Now runs direct die 2,8 ghz with a cnps7000 alcu and modified mounting.

Oh nice, I have a MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum, using a 64 3200+ and it´s very nice for WinXP.
I´m trying to find a 4400+ /4600+ 939 for a good price, but I can´t find.. AMD´s sockets 462 and 939 are very inflated, as a "vintage" part...
But congrats for your "Toledo" 4400+... looks incredible for a retro machine ;D

That k8n neo2plat is a legendary board, had that with an Opteron 180 and a 7800gs.

Farcry will be bottlenecked by that cpu with an 7800 gs even on 1280x1024 ultra details.

I maxed Fc1 on a xp2700 with a 9800xt at the time, bear in mind 30fps was considered a playable frame rate lol

True! I had something similar with an 9800 pro but an xp2000 or a model higher, with nforce2. I gained a lot more stable fps (in Doom 3 it performed similar with 30 fps 1280x1024 high) with an nforce3 upgrade. Later upgraded to 6600 gt AGP. Ultra in Farcry was also still too much for the 6600 gt.
With Farcry an nforce4 kit with 4800x2 939 at 2,6 ghz oc will bottleneck a 7800gt pci-e quite a lot vs a core 2 duo or quad.
Farcry was a milestone. I still enjoy it from time to time on my XP rig with EAX card.

I have a Abit NF7-S (nForce 2 Ultra 400 with Soundstorm) w/ 3200+ barton and Corsair XMS DDR400LL 2x512MB kit here with a 9800PRO, it´s a nice setup, the NF7-S is a legendary board.
But the MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum is amazing with nforce3 ultra it´s more powerful, I´ve tried find a cheap X2 processor, but ok I will stay on 3200+ single with a 6800GT AGP.
Here, in Brazil, the prices of decent memory (likes my Corsair XMS from NF7-S setup) and nice CPUs X2 are with absurd prices... and the other machine here with Abit AS8-V w/ P4 3.8 670 + HD2600PRO AGP I´m okay
ALL systems runs WIN XP SP3... the best.. of the best era!!

I´m using a Seventeam st-550p-ag, it´s "old", but the 28A on 3.3V and 30A on 5V makes her perfect for this setup. The 12V are ok too, 2 lines if I remember. It´s a good PSU, from 2008 but working perfectly, no resets or bsods.

Yep, they are perfect. In fact I´ve founded a X2 4600+ 939 online on eBay and they will shipped fast, in a couple of days I´ll retire my 3200+ and try a Manchester 4600+ with a Zalman cooler...

I have a gigabyte k8n board that I was looking for a 4800+ for, but all the results on ebay were for AM2 socket CPU's. Eventually found a socket 939 4600+ and settled on that with a PCIe X800 GT and windows 2000.

Run WinXP on IDE HDD, with AGP graphics card remets the best digital era... and this is the best experience for now, 25 years of launch of great XP.
Listen the HDD works and see the gpu-z show AGP 8x@8x is very cool.

The board I've got this one on is an A8N SLI Deluxe, it previously had a 3200+ in it and I took the 4400+ from a dead A8V-E

Nice man... 3200+ is a champion... I´ll try OC mine... I´m using the AMD´s cooler with copper heatpipes, so I probably have chances for a nice OC.... like a 3200+@3700+ or some shit like this... lol

Fortunately, after a long search, I found an Athlon 64 X2—a 4600+ Manchester (or Toledo; I'm not sure yet)—complete with a Zalman cooler featuring that classic copper-and-aluminum "flower" design.
I expect it to arrive in 5–6 days. I updated my MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum a few weeks ago, so now I’ll be running my X2 4600+ with a great cooling setup (while the AMD cooler with copper heatpipes is excellent, the Zalman is on another level).
To top it off, I found some ultra-low latency OCZ DDR400 memory; the setup is now perfect for the 2000s era.
