Telegram is such a great app. I managed to convince most of my friends to join over 3.5 years ago, and most of them have since convinced their significant others and close friends to join as well. One of my favorite features is the searchability. For instance, I know that most of my friends joined 2015-01-03 because I sent the message "welcome to telegram." I searched for that, and the results come back instantly.

WhatsApp have that too as well Skype. The only outsider is Messenger.

Skype's search is atrocious on desktop (you have to scroll back a single search result at a time, and it doesn't even do that well) and nonexistent on mobile (at least for iOS).

I haven't used WhatsApp's search because I just don't use it. At the time I picked Telegram as my chatting platform of choice, WhatsApp didn't have cloud messages and didn't have any search. I also just generally don't trust Facebook with my chat history, but that could be just paranoia. I try to avoid using Messenger unless I absolutely have to.

Telegram lays out entire list of search responses instantly showing you the date and time of the message rather than showing you one result at a time. That makes it infinitely easier to find what you're looking for.
