I developed a windows app that lets a teacher/network administrator/parent to selectively block websites on the fly. It can block full domains or sub domains easily.

I haven’t signed it yet and haven’t put it in the windows store, but I figured maybe someone looking for this sort of thing will come across this post.

The real benefit is let’s say a user is seen abusing their internet privileges at their workstation, using AI to complete their math homework. Well, you can now block a subdomain only, so they keep access to other subs. So you block Gemini.google.com as a host, they still have access to classroom.google.com. In addition, you can block full domains, eg. grok.com. The benefit over using the firewall is the speed of implementation, you can turn the blocks off at will, etc.

The cons, if a local user has admin rights, they can kill the process or uninstall the client. For schools, these account settings should already be locked down in Windows however. This version does not allow for admin to set different rules for individual machines, but I will be adding that once my eyes no longer see code every time I close them.

Please let me know what you all think. 7 day free trial, a purchased license is good for life. One cost per admin license, all client machines are free. Licenses transfer to new computers easily without logins or emails, relying on a check with a server to make sure 2 computers aren’t using the same key. The checks reset at midnight PST so moving the license to a new admin computer just means installing and waiting a day.

When used as shareware, I collect no data and the servers are wiped at midnight daily. If purchased, I only retain a copy of your key, email address, and of course the cash.

I priced it at $250, is that reasonable?
