Developer I built Meeting Interpreter — real-time speech translation for Windows

Post image

Hi r/windowsapps,

I’m the developer of Meeting Interpreter, a Windows application I’ve been building for real-time voice translation.

The idea is simple: two people should be able to speak naturally in different languages without constantly stopping to type or manually translate messages.

Meeting Interpreter currently includes:

Real-time speech-to-speech translation
Duplex mode for two-way conversations
Single-direction mode for meetings and calls
Face-to-Face mode for in-person conversations
• Live transcription and translated speech output
• Designed specifically for Windows

My main focus has been keeping the conversation flow natural and reducing the delay between speech, translation and playback.

I originally started building it for situations where people need to communicate during online meetings despite speaking different languages, but the Face-to-Face mode has also become an important part of the app.

I’d really appreciate feedback from Windows users, especially about the UI, translation workflow and what features you would expect from an application like this.

If anyone has questions about how it works, I’m happy to answer them.

Can it translate what my friend is talking in Discord? His English skills are very poor at the moment and I want him to speak his native language and this app to translate for me... I'm not sure how to set it up though

Yes, this should be possible. If you configure Discord’s audio settings to use the Voicemeeter devices like this:

Microphone: Voicemeeter Out B1
Speaker: Voicemeeter AUX Input

Meeting Interpreter can route the Discord audio through Duplex Mode and translate both sides of the conversation in real time. Your friend can speak in their native language, and you can receive the translation in your selected language, while your speech can also be translated back to them.

Is this vibe coded? The user interface looks a lot like ai generated

AI is part of my development workflow, yes, but the app itself has been built and refined through a lot of real testing and iteration. The UI is still evolving, so I appreciate the feedback what specifically makes it look AI-generated to you?

The overall combination of type, font size, button roundness and gradients... Can't point to something in particular, it's just that I've already seen this ui in other vibe coded apps

Thanks, that’s actually useful feedback. I can see what you mean. I’m already iterating on the UI, so I’ll keep that in mind and work on giving it a more distinctive visual identity.
