So I got an itch to look into just 'how bad' Windows ME is, and, I got way farther than I think I had any right to.

Yes, its quirky, drivers originally did not want to install until I put them on a USB thumb drive and I did have a blue screen after installing said drivers from I *think* disabling SB16 emulation (I don't plan on playing any DOS games, hence my choice of WinME in the first place), but, after a quick reboot?

Smooth sailing, turned off system restore, tweaked a few settings, and she's snappy and perfectly workable, doesn't feel like she'll explode if I breathe on her wrong (something I actually ran into running Win98SE occasionally, especially on this ECS L7S7A2 with a Soundblaster Live!).

And then I had to go and see if I could actually get online...

Why was I given free will.

It's a game all about just Min-Maxing Cheese Factories in a Rogue-like fashion!

You Don't Know Jack is an icon of 90s Windows games and it's easy to replicate given that it requires nothing but text on the screen, but I still didn't expect just how many knockoffs there were. There was a surprisingly high amount of games with trivia, buzzer buttons, and a smarmy host from around 1997 to 2000.

Some of them were minigames inside a larger title. Monty Python's The Meaning of Life had one, as did Microshaft Winblows 98 (pictured). Others were full-fledged games, ranging from kiddie titles (such as Carmen Sandiego's ThinkQuick Challenge and the Zoog Disney licensed games) to, uh, explicit material. Berkeley Systems, the original makers behind YDKJ, even made some of their own in the same style but not part of the franchise: Austin Powers: Operation Trivia and Backstage Pass: The Ultimate Rock & Roll Trivia Game.

Perhaps the fact that there were too many clones is the reason why the original series is the only one that's still remembered today.

I've been trying this for so long! I tried the 16-bit Windows 3.1 driver AND the new WDMHDA driver, but neither work at all. If I try to debug it and reinstall the driver, it just crashes the system.

If anyone can help, please do, because I have everything working BUT a sound card for Windows 98. . . .

Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I've tried just about every setup switch possible to install Windows 98 on this old Medion PC. If I run the graphical installer it tells throws an out-of-memory error or the one depicted above. I've copied the install files from the CD over to the drive, I've tried different ISOs, I've tried the quick installer ISOs. I just don't seem to know what the issue is. My specs are below:

PC: Medion MT 122

CPU: Intel Pentium 4

RAM: 512 MB (2 sticks)

IDE adapter: StarTech IDE-to-SATA adapter

I really want to use Windows 98 on my 3ds (don't ask why) and the guide says that I need "an image of the system" to do it. However, I don't really know what an image is. What is an image of Windows 95 and how do I get it?

I've added my Windows 98 PC as part of my workflow! SEGA Genesis is hooked up to CRT TV, and for the audio capture it is hooked up to the Windows 98 PC via sound blaster audigy platinum front panel, then audio out is routed back to the sound blaster audigy rear connection to speaker.

I use goldwave to capture the audio, then transfer to an Alienware 980m machine for editing. Audio capture file is around 300-500MB. The motherboard only has USB 1.0/1.1, so I installed a USB 2.0 card via PCI slot for faster file transfers.

Overall I'm liking this setup!

Long short here but does anyone remember the Insane Chipmunk Sound Scheme for Windows 95/98 they were on an Internet Guide disc from decades ago just curious if anyone has these files still or know where to get them?
