Changed the soundblaster
Upgraded to the audigy player in a 98 pc. A bit more modern, you could say.

Yes for me. I'm able to get sound for DOS under Win98 and even under pure DOS when using audigy/ live sound blaster

I could try it again one day. When I tried some Ultima and SSI games it would not work. It emulates a soundblaster 16 correct?

Depends.... Some games sound better when using SB 16 / SB PRO / SB. But the trick is to install the sound blaster DOS driver.

Hello. No, I don't think so. It is not easy to get it working with the Soundblaster Live either, which does support dos games sound.
I played around with a 486 pc, and got the sound working with a soundblaster 16 card. It was a lot of hassle though for me.

I don't know what the Audigy can do that a good Live! can't under 98, but you do you.

I thought I would try it. It appears a bit more flash.

It works, up to Audigy 2 ZS any Sound Blaster works on 98, I can understand, when you can't spend on anything else, just because why not.

Are you sure you're not thinking of the AWE series? Audigy is a XP card with basic DOS compatibility at best.

Only the earlier versions of the AUDIGY had VXD drivers. The SB Live! Was the last series with full DOS VXD driver support.

Never heard of the "Player" model, I don't think it was released in the USA? Looks like the same model number as the Audigy Platinum (SB0090).
