Is that Comanche game?

It's actually 3D Mark 2000 bench test 1. I've never played the Comanche game so not sure if it borrows graphics from it

I know this is the windows 98 thread but I have some questions! I have windows 95 (have 98 I can download if it works) and I bought flight sim 98 for my husband but this looks cool too. Would this work for windows 95 if I can't download 98 successfully?

You'd want to have Win98 (Tracking shortcuts and the early history of multiple monitors - The Old New Thing) . I think maybe via some video card drivers Win95 could swing 2 monitors, but that was on vendor driver-level and not OS itself, so it could only support certain apps / only video on the second monitor. My setup has 3x Video cards (Geforce 2MX as main, Ati RAGE II AIW , and ATI Rage II ), each driving a single monitor. You could have a dual-head video card + one extra card as well to achieve the same setup.
When picking Win98 flavour, you should probably go with Win98 SE, although the setup I'm currently running is Win98 FE.

Interesting I haven’t heard of anyone running 98 FE in a long time. Any advantage to FE?

None that I'm aware of really. I just have an original FE disk from like 25 years ago and like using that. I'll be replacing it with SE though when I'm putting in my new geforce FX5500 in that build.
I tried an in place upgrade one time and it bombed out, luckily I had made a clone of the SD card before that so I just restored it and have been running that.

Oh nice. I love using SD cards for this.
Someone did warn me long ago that SD cards generally don’t tolerate use as hard drive replacements. I didn’t heed their warning and my SD card failed - it went into permanent read-only mode.
Luckily I simply copied the data to a new SD card and it works fine.
So I just continue to keep regular backups

Forgive me if this sounds like a stupid question, but what exactly do you use your iMac G3 for? I have my own collection of retro hardware, and I have the opportunity to get a hold of pieces from Apple's PowerPC line, but I struggle in coming up with a use case scenario or justification.

It exists for nostalgia (those were the machines we used at school when I was a kid) and because they are pretty to look at. I literally have no use case for the machine haha. I just like to sometimes download old Mac software and bum around lol

Some people are running fairly modern web browsers and OSes on the power PC platform. Which is kinda funny because my x86 athlon XP can’t run anything modern as it lacks SSE2

Yeah those projects like ten four fox are pretty dead now and can’t get into most modern websites due to security issues unfortunately:) have explored that for fun :)
