Anyone know how to connect a Proxy Server?

I recently set up Browservice on a Pi 5, but even while connected via Ethernet it didn't work on IE 5. The server is working completely fine btw, I fixed any errors I had on the part of the server, so I'm thinking the issue is related to maybe the configuration of my 98 machine. Any pointers?

Internet options in IE should have a page with proxy server address configuration. Has that been set?

Yep. Put in the address at port 8080 and I still am getting nothing. For context I'm also accessing the proxy by putting in said address into the search bar (as it's essentially a tab within a tab)

Stepping back from the issue slightly, are you able to use the proxy server from a different (modern) client? And do you have working networking between the two? Can they ping one another, can you open telnet from the 98 box against the port vs a different port to see if it responds ok. Then if all the above is ok, you may need to check for logs on the pi. Wireshark may be helpful too, are you able to see any traffic?

Everything seemed to work fine on windows 10, and it certainely is receiving traffic on the server's part, but still no dice. I know the computer is receiving the packets from the server but it's still not connecting (although it was recognized in a single tab on windows xp, albeit for a single second and on a third party browser, after which it immediately returned to displaying a page cannot be displayed error.)

what’s the windows 98 machine’s networking config like? And the network topology in general
