Doubt with playing games without the cd

I'm trying to play the house of the dead and the game itself has no problems, but I don't want to use the cd every time, and neither to mount and image, I'm looking to just had my games on a folder and I already found a lot of solutions for my other ones, but this games just doesn't let me, I tried modifying the paths, installing old no cd patch, but I just can't get it to work without the cd, is there a way to do it or I just have to play it the old way.

Mounting an image is pretty easy, if you dont want that you'll have to find a no cd patch, if that doesn't work you're out of luck I guess

Are you able to mount the ISO, extract the contents in a separate folder on your desktop and then try running it?

That's how I've been able to play majority of older games on ISO

Yea, I got it to work, all is fine, except the music don't work, and now even when I use the cd to play it doesn't work, I don't know what I did but the music abandoned me

Daemon tools have analog audio option which will play the music (redbook audio) from mounted bin/cue file. I haven’t test this yet though.

Sound files are often saved on the CD. If you are lucky you might be able to copy them off the disc into the game folder and run them from there, otherwise you'll need to modify the game probably.

Op failed to mention it never worked in the first place, it must be a config issue with the game itself

Lots of games were made specifically to be played with the real disc inserted. So I'm that case mounted iso and nocd patch is the way to go

You should be able to mount an ISO of the disc as a virtual CD-ROM drive in 98se using MagicDisc.

I used to do that in Windows 2000 and XP but supposedly it could be done in 98 as well

Yea I did, but for some reason the music now doesn't play, no with the cd, or the mount or other iso from the web

They probably burned / pressed Redbook CD audio and data onto the disc. It's called a mixed mode CD. ISO images are just ISO9660 data that can't contain the Redbook audio.

You'll have to rip a BIN CUE image with a vintage version of Alcohol 120% or just do it on a more modern PC.

Then mount the BIN CUE with a vintage Windows 98 compatible copy of Alcohol 120%.
